NBC has just announced a new member of their tremendously successful Law & Order television franchise. Law & Order has been continuously on the air for 20 years in prime time and has spun off parallel series such as Law and Order Criminal Intent and Law and Order Special Victims Unit in recent years.
Generally the story lines in Law & Order are "ripped from the headlines" and then transposed into a New York City location.
Given recent events, NBC has decided to add another Law & Order to their franchise:
Law & Order ICU
Law and Order Imaginary Crimes Unit will focus on alleged victims who create bizarre stories to draw attention to themselves or to deflect attention from the real culprits of an actual crime. Law enforcement officials are usually tipped off to the suspicious nature of the victims stories by bizarre and elaborate flourishes they provide such as branding, mutilation, or writing on the wall in the victim's blood. Other tips include the superficial nature of victim injuries or obvious signs of self-infliction such as powder burns.
The pilot episode is rumoured to center around a young capaign worker in Mayor Bloomberg's race for re-election to a third term who claims to have been savagely beaten and branded with the letter "B" in a bad neighborhood on the upper East side.
Doug D.
