Prop 8 email from Rick Warren
Comments: portion of the email below.

For 5,000 years, EVERY culture and EVERY religion - not just Christianity - has defined marriage as a contract between men and women. There is no reason to change the universal, historical definition of marriage to appease 2% of our population. This is one issue that both Democrats and Republicans can agree on. Both Barack Obama and John McCain have publicly opposed the redefinition of marriage to include so-called "gay marriage." Even some gay leaders, like Al Rantel of KABC oppose watering down the definition of marriage. Of course, my long-time opposition is well known. This is not a political issue, it is a moral issue that God has spoken clearly about. There is no doubt where we should stand on this issue.

2. Rick Warren is a heretical piece of shit.
Not as heretical as Joel Osteen or Jerry Falwell or James Dobson, but pretty fucking heretical, anyway.

4. Fuck him. How has God "spoken" about it? Was it to him directly? Or just in general?
Is that a veiled AIDS reference? I can't help but think it is...

5. Then let the churches recognize whatever the fuck they want as "marriage."
This is a civil issue, a legal issue -- and clearly the rights of gays are being violated.

7. So the Invisible Imaginary Man has "spoken clearly" about it in the Book of Fairy Tales?
Oh, well then. That settles it, I guess.

10. I don't understand why these fuckers think everyone has to live by their rules as defined in some
"ancient text". What gives them the right to tell two grown people what they can and cannot do? I HATE THESE FREAK RELIGIOUS NUTS!

8. IF it's only 2% of the entire Population that will benefit, then what's the BFD?
How will allowing 2% of the Population of 303 million really matter to the other 98%
if they are married or not.

VOTE no ON Prop 8 because 2% is really not going to hurt anything!
thanks for the argument Rick!

9. Rick-O states:
This is not a political issue, it is a moral issue that God has spoken clearly about

####

Well The Son of God advised that "Little children love one another," and as he was addressing his disciples and other folowers at that moment, by that he probably meant that people of all ages should love one another.

He didn't feel the need to interject - only love one another if you are of the opposite sex.

And what about all that Peacemaker stuff that Jesus mentioned? Rick-o? Don't you right wing nuts ever feel ashamed of all the wars you support??

12. BTW, if it's "not a political issue, it is a moral issue"...
...then it falls under the bailiwick of Church and not State, and therefore should not be a matter of secular law. If your church wants to refuse to perform gay weddings, or allow gay couples to be members, that's your business. But writing it into civil law is not your business!

Obama rejects proposed California gay marriage ban
By Aurelio Rojas
Published: Tuesday, Jul. 01, 2008 | Page 3A

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who previously said the issue of gay marriage should be left up to each state, has announced his opposition to a California ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriages.

In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read Sunday at the group's annual Pride Breakfast in San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending "fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both state and federal law."

"And that is why I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states," Obama wrote.

17. I'm tired of these religious BIGOTS interfering in a SECULAR matter.
I'm dearly hoping that an Obama Administration and a Democratic Congress might look into taking away the tax exempt status of these churches who get involved in secular issues. This needs to stop.
