the "intensity" Chuck Todd picked up on was McCain trying to contain his attraction to Palin
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 07:05 AM by zazen
I've referred to this occasionally on other threads (about his choice boiling down to attraction to Palin) and felt pretty icky saying it. I'm glad other people are now writing more extensively about this. A guy like that is clearly into having the woman publicly perceived to be the hottest (why he dated models and heiresses--it's as much about having the prize as his own attraction to the prize.) He wants a woman every man wants, or at least the men in his world want. The progressive guys I know find her revolting, but their tastes don't run toward you-betcha mendacity.

So, I didn't sense any antipathy in what I've seen so far in that Brian Williams interview. (Maybe I'll be surprised when it all comes out.) What I sensed was McCain trying to pretend like hell he wasn't attracted to Palin, which was the source of the "intensity" that Chuck Todd was too thick to get. And she was her playing Johnnie like a Tonka Toy one-scale keyboard, since that's exactly how much skill is required to assuage him back into his familiar megalomania. All she had to do was start flattering him while he looked all falsely embarrassed, and then he picked right up and started singing his own praises. I've seen it a million times and I'm embarrassed to say have done it a few times (when I was a lot younger) with insecure older men. She knows exactly how to play to his ego and he's sponging it up like a junkie.

Poor Cindy McCain. I wish she'd leave his ass.

(edited to correct Brian's last name to Williams)

2. His wandering eyes ogling and undressing her as he fiddles with his wedding band
It is disgusting.

He is at once attracted to and revolted by her.

I can see what you mean in his behavior.

It is creepy.

4. Once a horndog, always a horndog.
Every time I see McCain peering over a podium somewhere, he's got his two "beauty queens" right behind him. The guy is just plain immature in every way. He's the oldest little boy I've ever seen!

10. McCain described Palin
as his "soul mate" after picking her as his VP candidate. I found that odd. Suspect Cindy did, as well.

15. you don't think caribou barbie would come across in return for the chance to be VP?
I wouldn't put it past him to demand it nor her to deliver it.
