WASILLA -- A vote of no confidence in Wasilla Mayor Dianne Keller failed to pass at Monday's City Council meeting.

After the vote, council members and the mayor agreed it was time to bury the hatchet, but only after a few more verbal jabs were exchanged.

Councilman Steven Menard suggested the no-confidence vote for Keller last month but pulled the measure when the council voted to ask the mayor to resign. The resignation vote passed 4-2 but Keller refused to step down.

The City Council paid for an investigation into Keller and other city employees' interactions with developer Meritage Development Group LLC, which wants to build two shopping centers on the Parks Highway.

The investigation concluded in June that Keller and her staff gave Meritage an unfair advantage over nearby businesses and they may have committed attempted coercion, a misdemeanor crime

1. Did she not hold the staff meetings on time?
Did she not sign the checks properly?

2. After seeing her on TDS, I wouldn't be confident in her, either.

Seems to be a pattern among Wasilla mayors to meet questions with blank stares and cliches.

6. This mayor somehow found the time to email me regarding banned books.
I emailed the library in Wasilla around the 2nd or 3rd of September, a polite email in which I asked which books were in question, what were the general subjects, authors, etc. I recieved a reply within about three hours. The library director received my email at the generic library email address, forwarded/cc'ed it to the City Clerk, Recreation/Cultural Services and to... the Mayor of Wasilla? What on earth? And the MAYOR answered my email request? Why couldn't some peon at the library do this? It's not like the mayor had anything special to tell me.

"We do not have information about any challenged books and if you want more information please visit our web site at www. cityofwasilla .com and download a record request form which is located in the clerks section. We will be happy to assist you if we can."

So, they don't have any information but if I want more information, fill out a form? Um, thanks but no thanks.

I don't really know what to make of it. It's just bizarre to me that my very polite, friendly email would be forwarded to those people. O_o

She must not have a lot to do, y'know? ;)
