I just called MSNBC at 1-212-664-4444 to report a BREAKING NEWS TIP!

Told them that I was referencing their BREAKING NEWS TIP as was announced by David Schuster yesterday. That KDKA had breaking news on their site that the McCain supporting woman had confessed that the attack was a Hoax.

The woman that they put me through to told me that they were aware of this.

So I asked when it was going to be BREAKING NEWS?

She hung up on me! :(

lady forwarded me to some guy and I asked when they were going to "break" into programming for this breaking news..
He said he was aware of it and hasn't been watching so will wait and see- Said they did report the changes in her story this morning..

She was really snotty about it, and when I asked why it took so long to get the hoax news up, when their only confirmation for the story yesterday was Drudge and they had it up almost immediately, she said nothing, then...click.

The woman who apparently answered the phone on the previous callers put me through to the fellow that actually makes the decision on what goes on and writes the scroll

He was very defensive and said that he wasn't going to put up anything that wasn't confirmed. By sheer good fortune I happened to have the AP report before me.

He initially denied that they had delayed any reporting of the story but I was able to show him that the AP had the story confirmed for over an hour. He told me that it was an anonymous source and I told him no that it was the official spokesman Richards and that while this was the official story that the police had basically admitted that it was hoax in the morning.

He then got very defensive and said that they had to double check on a story like this and I told him that there was no double checking yesterday when they rushed this on the news almost ahead of Drudge beating fox cnn and everybody.

He said that he took his child to the doctor yesterday and wasn't there and today that he was upholding professional standards.

I then said fine I congratulate you on your prudent actions today but that yesterday MSNBC acted like drudge on speed.

He said that he didn't work for MSNBC but NBC.

He said "alright go look at the TV I just put it on the scroll --- are you satisfied?"

I said yes but you should have a talk with the guy who screwed up yesterday and he transferred me to a comment line so I could yell about yesterday.

How much of a connection is there between him and Todd? He was certainly eager to press the story on KDKA before the facts were confirmed. (He's McCain's communication director.)
