I don't think they'd do this to Hillary.
Exhibit one: Club Paradise across the street from the Hard Rock is holding an "official" Sarah Palin lookalike pageant on Oct. 23, advertised with a flier that includes a doctored photo of the candidate. I have no idea what is meant by "official" in this context, except that I was assured yesterday that it does not mean the event is in any way endorsed by Nevada's McCain-Palin campaign. No surprise there. According to the manager of Club Paradise: "We have invited girls who resemble Sarah Palin from clubs all over the country to join us for the pageant."

I'm not happy they're doing it to Sarah, either. This is misogynistic tripe.

2. She brought it on herself
with winks and ya betchas cutie pie me wink wink. Pay for your rape kit. Anti-choice. She is a disgrace and this is an accurate reflection of her inner self. It IS misogynistic, but she herself is a misogynist.

3. Hillary has been called every name in the book for years.
She has been vilified by as many people on the left as on the right (quite frequently on this board during the primaries).

So, maybe some club wouldn't hold a Hillary lookalike contest, but far worse things have been done against her.

Having said that, I find it just as disgusting that Palin is being treated the way she is by far too many who should know better. I strongly disagree with her politics, but that doesn't mean that it's OK to degrade her as a woman.

Feminism, just as freedom of speech, is not only for those we agree with.

4. Palin is not a feminist, nor does she help women's issues
And she deserves to be vilified every bit as any man with the same ethics issues. And how does having a look alike contest become mysoginy?

9. She deserves to be criticized for her political views,
but not degraded as a woman. I will always oppose any woman being bashed on personal terms: her looks, hair, sexuality, etc.

5. WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT????????????
Will Ferrell is doing a Bush impersonations. There's are really talented guy on YOUTUBE doing an Obama impersonation, and we've been seeing fairly good Palin impersonations all over the place.

Is Club Paradise a strip joint or something?

To me, this isn't much different from an Elvis impersonator.

7. Yes. Club Paradise is a "Gentlemen's Club"
The kind that gentlemen don't actually go to.

http://www.clubparadise.net/

Although, I don't really see how expressing sexuality degrades anyone, but that is an argument for another day.

10. Hillary never paraded around in a swimsuit for a beauty pageant
Rightly or wrongly, it takes away a lot of your credibility when you do.

18. Thank you! It was Sarah's choice to parade in front of others wearing 18" of material over her body
Bill Clinton was nailed for participating in an anti-war rally in London when he was in his early 20s!

11. I'm not happy she has followers that cry out "Kill him!" and "Terrorist!"
Yet, she says nothing to stop them. A wink and a nod.

Lets rank that in importance in the overall scheme of things, shall we?

Inciting your followers to threats of physical violence against a political adversary: #1.

Being the object of a look-a-like contest at a men's club: Doesn't break the top 100.

14. Look, I remember when Hillary was supposedly screwing
Vince Foster, Web Hubble (Chelsea's real father) and Janet Reno.

All at once in the fevered little minds of the rightwing....

The wingers did it to Hillary.....heck, wasn't she accused of having a lesbian affair with her assistant during the primary by the freepers????

15. They've called Hillary every name in the book for years. But I don't
think they'd do this pageant thing. She has way too much gravitas for anyone to even THINK about reducing her to that insignificant level.

Palin, OTOH, doesn't have ANY gravitas and having been a pageant contestant in the past, she's open for this kind of stuff.

And the GOP would probably look at it as a compliment. A good portion of them think all women should be at home, either spending all their time making themselves look sexy for their menfolk or pregnant.

along with all the crap, nonsense, and the $150,000 new wardrobe that comes with it.

SHE is the one who paraded around in a swimsuit as an enthusiastic piece of meat...not Hillary
