1. Depends on how much press it gets but if it goes viral then I would guess it very well could
In either case, it's a shame that the McCain camp felt it had to "push" this story long before getting any of the facts. Not just desperation but more like the sleaziest thing they've done to date and that's saying something.

5. It already kind of is, thanks to Drudge and FOX
They pushed it IMMEDIATELY.

Check this out too:

FOX VP: Race-baiting hoax means McCain's quest for the presidency "is over"

This incident could become a watershed event in the 11 days before the election.

If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee.

If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.

For Pittsburgh, a city that has done so much to shape American history over the centuries, another moment of truth is at hand.

I love how FOX not only manages to work a dig in there, but also manages to push a rightwing meme, that Obama is an unknown, and that the actions of one alleged criminal unconnected to the campaign in any way, damns him.

Of course, I doubt FOX or drudge will ever apologize for pushing this racist bullcrap, but the story did get out there at least a little.
