U.S. Sen. Barack Obama spent nearly two hours visiting his ailing grandmother this morning then took a walk in his old Makiki neighborhood.

Wearing a black polo shirt, jeans, black slippers and sunglasses, Obama walked for a couple blocks on Young Street away from the Punahou Circle Apartments, where he was raised by his maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham.

Obama appeared solemn when he spotted his traveling press running toward him.

2. I feel so sorry for him. Even his personal, private moments are public.

But I know it all comes with the territory.

It's painful to think about.

Edited for gramma.

5. OT but did you catch the headline on that site
Obama, McCain trying to tie EACH OTHER to Bush policies? Is McCain now claiming OBAMA is Bush II?
What desperation.

6. He looks so somber. I sure wish Michelle could be there with him,
and I wish Toot would have a miraculous recovery, so that she could attend his Inauguration.

and just a block or two from the middle school where I waited for hours to caucus for Barack back in Feb., and where I will go on Tuesday the 4th to vote for him for President.

I trust he'll be finished with his walk by rush hour. Friday traffic is bad enough as it is...

edit: Barack with a capital (but not backwards) 'B'!
