20. I Agree
He looks sad and like he wants to be alone.

His grandmother is very ill and he probably needs time to collect his thoughts. Some people do that best by taking a walk alone. But Barack Obama can't be alone outside - the media is always following him. The next way to find comfort is with his wife, but he can't do that either because Michelle is campaigning for him.

That's very sad.

His family isn't with him. I'm sure Michelle and his girls would have provided a lot of comfort. I hope he has someone he can talk to with him.

I think his sister is there, though

And maybe now this will sound insensitive, but Obama knew the deal when he decided to run for President. I just don't think that's something you do unless your whole family is behind the idea, because it requires sacrifices from all.

Judging by the strength and quality of Obama's character and the things he has written and said about his grandmother, I think Madelyn Dunham is a selfless woman. She has made sacrifices for Obama, and now she is giving up time with Obama for this country.

We can see it as sad, but noble too. It should inspire us to work that much harder.

54. His sister is there.
I would be unhappy if Obama didn't go back to see his Toot if he'd been told she's dying. I think even if he was losing, he'd have gone. That's the kind of guy he is. And that's why he has so much of my respect.

running for President, is what I meant. Have you got a photo of him looking stocky? I'd like to see it.

The only photo I've seen of him looking stocky is the photo of him at about 2 years-old, being held in his mother's arms. He was definitely a cute, fatheaded kid.

He does look great in a pair of jeans. I dare say this is the sexiest ticket for the Dems since Bill Clinton and Al Gore. I can live with having to look at Barack Obama and Joe Biden on my t.v. for a long time if you know what I mean. Poor Barack though, looks like he just wants to get away and take a nice thoughtful walk. Hard when there is the security (even though we want him to be safe) and all the media.

75. One of the things that Palin said that really upset me...
was that Obama was in this race because of wanting to further HIS career. But there are too many things that have come out about him that show he is an incredibly caring person. Remember him paying $103 for that young bride's suitcase, a perfect stranger, in the airport 20 years ago, then there was the story that after someone canvassing for him a while back told the campaign these people needed food and he sent them enough for days on his own credit card, etc. He did not report these things himself, he did it out of the kindness of his heart. I believe with my with my whole being that he is the real deal. My friends would say I am the ultimate cynic. I don't come to this conclusion lightly. But nobody comes out of college to take a low paying job as a community organizer just to help people. The Republicans can't see, refuse to see the character of someone who would do this. They can't begin to comprehend selfless sacrifice to help others because greed is the name of the game for them. He has an innate sense of compassion. We need Obama, the world needs Obama. Like I heard someone say on TV yesterday. He may be a once in a century personality.

PS: Yesterday I had to call and activate a new credit card. We talked briefly and as we were closing he said thank you for being a 'blank' customer and then very quickly as I was about to hang up he said, "And I hope you are voting for CHANGE in the upcoming election." It took me a second to grasp what he was saying but when I did I yelled "Absolutely, absolutely, of course I'm voting for CHANGE!" I hope he doesn't get some wingnut who'd complain. I was really tickled.

I believe the phrase would be "the amazing duplicity of life." He's such an amazing polymath. An incredible talent. But in the end. He's just a person. Just another human being. Regardless of where you are in life, seeing that makes you take stock in your own mortality and your own future.
