A potential consolation (not really, but it helps a little):
From AP (PITTSBURGH), a few hours ago: excerpt:
"Todd was awaiting arraignment Friday on the misdemeanor false-report charge, which is punishable by up to two years in prison"
She's trying to avoid prison via mental health claims, which I personally am skeptical about until I hear otherwise regarding her history. I could, however, be wrong.
I wouldn't be surprised that she thought this little plan would be mischievous and rebellious, with the hope that it might help her candidate in the election. I don't think she expected it to blow up into a national story, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's being "aggressively persuaded" from someone, somehow to use the mental health route, which would be less damaging to the campaign than just about any other motive. I think she was way too cocky for her own good, and is seriously regretting trying to pull this stunt. Because of it's potential political ramifications to the, um... _presidential_election_ for goodness sake, she is (hopefully) scared out of her racist little mind, no matter what.
