RNC paid for a Spray-On Tan for Sarah Palin

One of the strangest thing to come out of Wardrobe-gate in the last days is that it now appears that one of the "makeup" artists employed by the RNC on Sarah Palin's behalf was a woman named Tracy Thorp, whose sole specialty is applying spray-on tans. For this, she was only paid $900 plus airfare and expenses. But at least Sarah doesn't have that awkward "Eskimo tan" anymore! While he's still a bit mysterious as a source, this comes from Martin Eisenstadt, who was posting about Thorp two days before the New York Times ran the piece today about the other makeup artists. He's also the guy who broke (or leaked) part of the Joe "the Plumber" story. The links all check out:

Spray tan? It seems more like she was prepping for a pageant, not running for Vice President.

I mean - honestly - a woman from Alaska with a tan? I live in Michigan. I get a slight tan in the summer but it isn't much, and by now it's way faded and I LIKE IT that way. The idea that she looks tanned coming from, well, Alaska? Sets of all sorts of BS meters for me. It helps that it ties into the stories of her having a tanning bed up there. Kind of funny, actually. Most northern women accept the Casper the Friendly Ghost look and make it work. I guess she's special. ;-)

Or check out how fruit fly research is used to advance autism cures before she rails against it during a special needs policy speech as an example of worthless research. Or fill in the blank with one of many other knowledge gaps. Now I see what is taking up her time, and making it impossible to educate Sarah.

She has way too many personal matters to attend to - shopping at her donors' expense at high end stores for more of those knee high leather hooker boots, getting that bar fly face made up, getting the sexy hair blow dry jobs, and now we can add getting a painted on tan.

This freak is a joke. To think she believes she is special enough to be annointed VP of my damned country - out, damned spot...

the GOP and McStupid's campaign were disproportionately more concerned about her appearance than anything else about her (you know, her knowledge/aptitude for issues and policy, etc.)? I mean, she's a pretty woman to begin with, why would she need this massive "makeover"? I'll answer my own question: because she was hired to be the campaign spokesmodel, and nothing more.

I don't trust Martin Eisenstadt.
