Joe the Plumber "Scared for America" if Obama wins - now that he's thinking of running for office...
(Article appears after this rant.)

What an opportunistic twit. Anyone who actually watched that entire conversation saw Obama explain to him that depending on the facts -- not the real situation, but the one Joe described -- Joe might pay *less* in taxes under the Obama plan, even with that >$250k company he wanted to buy with his $41k salary. In the worst case scenario Obama described, Joe would have to pay an extra 3% (I think it moved from 36% to 39%, like it was under Clinton) on the profits he made that were *over* $250k. Obama explained that that figure would be at least somewhat offset by a per-employee healthcare tax credit.

Opinions vary, so there's nothing wrong with Joe not liking this. But Obama gave him an in-depth analysis and explained it very well. Whatever Joe thought of it, there was nothing to be "scared" of. After getting more one-on-one time than any Joe Schmoe has a right to expect, Joe said he wasn't impressed by Obama and that he was scared at what would happen if he was elected.

Now that he's appeared on HANNITY (& colmes) and every other show he could get, Joe has said he's considering running for office and publicized it by slamming Obama. Well, he's certainly got the makings of a politician, anyway.

(I hope he runs, by the way. Ohio has common sense. I'm sure it will send him back to the toilets where he belongs. What a schmuck.)

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/25/obama-makes-joe-plumber-scared-america/

Joe the Plumber all but came out of the water closet for Sen. John McCain on Friday, saying that his famous exchange with Sen. Barack Obama made him "scared for America" and that he doesn't trust the Democratic presidential candidate on taxes.

The plumber, aka Joe Wurzelbacher, burst into the headlines after he buttonholed Mr. Obama less than two weeks ago during a campaign stop in his Holland, Ohio, neighborhood and quizzed him about his tax policy. On Friday, he said that he wasn't impressed by the Illinois senator in their encounter.

"When I was face to face with him, my honest first impression was that I expected something more. I had heard so much about 'his presence' in the media that I was surprised to find that he seemed very average," Mr. Wurzelbacher wrote in a live online chat on WashingtonTimes.com.

1. Pay your bills, your taxes, and your license fees, and you won't be so scared, joe.
Fear always takes over when you are a freeloader and someone outs you.

8. I don't blame him for not having enough money. But Joe is the "freeloader" McCain complains about...

At $41k/year with a family, Joe would likely be one of those folks with a low salary children, and some exemptions that might even have a net profit from his personal taxes. Subsidizing the working poor has been a big complaint from the McCain camp.

If Joe had honestly told his salary to Obama in the first place, he would have found that he saves around $500-1000 more under the Obama plan.

7. Yeah. Average. Like a "regular Joe." Joe the Plumber is not a real guy...

A real "average Joe" would have listened to Obama, heard all the fuss that both sides made over him in the next few days, and then noted how politicians trip over themselves to appear helpful and friendly while campaigning and then go and do whatever they want. Average Joes are cynical about things unilaterally.

Both candidates were fawning over him once he became a story. Joe started saying things right away to play the situation. His mind was made up before he ever met Obama, and by airing those sentiments louder, he keeps getting attention.

Joe is more of a celebrity personality type than Obama. He just lacks talent.

23. That is not funny, not funny at all. Have you no empathy for idiots?
He would end up as a greasy smear on the campaign trail after Marcy got through with him.

It would be horrendous.
I would have to shield my eyes from such a gruesome sight.
It would be theater of the absurd.

Really.

I pray to every deity that Shmoe gets millions in Republican money to run for Marcy's seat, and wastes every last cent of their money.

15. Joe the Plumber needs to crawl back under the rock he came out from under
And take those idiots McCain and Palin with him.

The very idea that McCain is STILL repeating the "Joe the Plumber" mantra, and has gone so far as to make a "TOUR" out of this non-plumber non-starter, is indicative of just how empty and desperate McCain is.

18. I still believe that "Joe" has ties to McCain's campaign.
I don't think they vetted him, as usual, but I think he was not a random guy... something is fishy. He is faaar too 'on message' whenever they need him. Now that mcPalin has decided to hit taxes, there is Joe the Schmoe right on message. He's a fucking stooge.

29. I doubt he was planted, but he's definitely getting money to travel to all these interviews...

At $41k/year, this guy can't afford to fly all around and take time off from work.

Some of these media folks and maybe other right-wing folks are handing him cash, and probably making other promises.

I don't think Joe is going to have to fix toilets much longer. He's going to find a way to milk this turd dry.

19. Gee, I hope he doesn't go broke running a losing campaign
and have to declare bankruptcy, and no one would hire him, and he had to go on welare and food stamps until he could get back on his feet. That would suck, and would not be poetic justice at all.

25. This guy is a redneck - he reminds me of a lot of JACKASSES here in NH
They are all about themselves and could care less about anybody in their state or the country for that matter.

I'm ignoring him form now on - in my opinion he was a plant for the RNC/Fox News.

Yeah, whatever. Is there any doubt left in anyone's mind anywhere that this joker is in the pocket of the McCain campaign? I wonder if he'll soon surpass the makeup lady as the campaign's highest paid operative.

27. He does a lot of thinking
thinking about buying a business that profits over 250k a year (that would likely cost millions)
thinking about voting (but not registering)
thinking about paying taxes
and now thinking about running for office.

Good thinking, Joe!
