a catholic priest who said all good catholics must vote for mccain! so i guess i need to tell my wife and her whole family they are " bad catholics":shrug:

can't his church lose it's tax exempt status for that?

In live in CA, and yesterday I walked by a chuch that had a Yes on Prop. 8 (the "gay marriage" prop). Gonna have some fun tomorrow. Gonna take the sign into their office and ask if they are tax exempt. If they say yes I am gonna walk out with the sign. Of course all this will be videotaped.

For every one of him there is big majority of other clerics who on the whole range of issues support Obama. The bishops are generally more wary of abusing the misconception many Catholics have of the solitary clerical position and realize that such abuses deteriorate solidarity on moral issues in politics completely. If someone wants to compare body counts based on one's vote one might quickly realize that the pure moral ground does not exist whatsoever except as a convenient ultra conservative red meat fancy. Only a liberal Democrat polity will reduce abortions, avoid another ineffective and amoral punishment system and the sufferings that surround life issues as a whole.
