Presidential: letter to a Libertarian friend
Here's why I like Obama.

I think his integrity is solid, because he is accountable to his conscience.

I think he's a reasonable man who will consider everyone else's views and amend his own when it's good for the country and the right thing to do.

He will not dismiss input from people like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich -- both of whom have great views on many issues, but neither of whom could be elected, or bring about their reforms overnight.

I think Obama has the steady hand to turn this country away from the iceberg at the last moment, and change its direction -- because at this point even if it is turned only slighty, it is MAJOR, it is about survival.

Obama has power but does not get it from greed, ambition, deception, or hate.

He gets it from integrity, kindness, hope, inspiration, truth-telling.
If he wavers from those, he loses his power.

I think he knows this; but if he forgets, he has a wife and kids who will remind him every day.

His intelligence matches the greatest minds of our time and recent history; but it has been dedicated to helping people since he was a young man; it has not been dedicated to personal gain and ambition. Those things crossed his mind but he made different choices.

His intellect & heart have been dedicated to organizing, motivating, inspiring, solving, taking down walls. "Something there is that doesn't love a wall, that wants it down." This is who the guy is.

I think he'll be an alert responsive President who stays closely in touch with the people. There is no way he's going to forget the ones who have elected him, especially so many who have worked for his campaign.

I trust him as a human being, even if I don't agree with him on everything. I could go on and on.
