I don't want him carrying a gun, either.

9. Have you seen documentation from health care professionals that I have not?
At this point I'm going with this: She is a race-baiting republican operative who did not act alone. No pity or sympathy here. Her crime should be elevated to a hate-crime.

the fact that she carved that backwards 'B'

23. Those are minor scratches, NOT carvings.
It is easy to slightly abrade your skin in this way. What is more telling is her pulling a "Mayella" (blame the big black man, from To Kill a Mockingbird). Instigating racial violence is criminal. Some may sane insane, some may be insane, but criminal indeed.

24. No doubt she is a criminal.

No one contested that fact.

But she's also insane.

Those were much deeper than superficial abrasions.
When it hurts to nick yourself shaving, you can only
imagine what carving those letters felt like.

She is criminally insane.

38. Those are superficial abrasions. Won't leave a scar unless she picks at them.
It is easy to scrape yourself like this. Haven't you ever scraped yourself by accident, or given yourself a red mark when scratching? Those scratches didn't draw blood, are shallower than nicking yourself shaving.

Unless you have evaluated her, or have proof of her being "criminally insane", you are only pulling a Frist here.

Think of the damage she attempted. Suppose this wasn't found out until after Nov. 4th.

I have no pity for her.

and she should be held accountable.

Her insanity should be
taken into account so she gets help.

22. Very likely.
She certainly needs to be evaluated by a mental health professional - let him or her make the diagnosis.

If she's mentally ill, she should be compelled to get treatment - after all, she committed acts that are evidence that she's a danger to herself or others.

If she's not mentally ill, off to jail with her!

27. No problem.
I've seen a couple of these things before - people who've committed terrible acts (and don't get me wrong - what Ashley Todd did was damned despicable - we're fortunate in that she was so incompetent in her act of deception that she got caught quickly and early. Innocent people could have gone to jail, we could have seen hate-crimes as a result of her accusations)

Sometimes, it's just a person being an asshole. But frequently, it is a person who is genuinely mentally ill, and in that case, the appropriate thing to do is treat the illness.

7. I think her sentence should be 2 years of painting and other
maintenance work for women's shelters and veterans' hospitals.

She should be required to serve as a worker to help people who actually are victims of circumstances which should give her some time and opportunity to fully weigh her decision to bear false witness.

I'd feel safer with her in jail with a cell phone. (All of the state prisons in Texas were in lockdown for searches this week. 13 cell phones were found in various prison cells. Guards are the likely culprits.)

She can serve somehow without having to ruin the workplace of others, otherwise sentence her to permanent community service in inner-city areas. For Ever.
