What up MSNBC???
Seriously.

MSNBC.

Why you be like that?

Don't get me wrong.

Love MSNBC.

But is there some reason they feel compelled to play prison shows? They seriously need to be a 24 hours news station. More weather, International news... Hell, let's see a DU highlights show at 2:00am. I say, that's a smashing idea! That's when we're at our best, yes my biotches, bwahahaha? lol...

But seriously, enough with the prison shows. I think it's really unlikely that one person in those shows deserves national exposure.

Just sayin'...

Yer mom goes to college.

1. I almost posted a thread about that earlier
With the election this close, I have no idea why they've committed to this silly lock up series.

2. Actually it would cool if MSNBC did a prison show about Republicans
or to catch a predator featuring corrupt Republicans.

4. I'm with you.
I'd rather see reruns of the day's shows than those prison shows. I wonder what happens to their ratings while they're showing those.

MrSlayer.

Or may I call you Mr. Slayer.

;)

Nice to meet ya.

New prison shows are the last thing we need. Bigger fish to fry.

19. I'm not saying they are a top priority of mine.
Far from it but they are hardly the "last" thing we need. I can think of a thousand other things that would be worse.

26. In a literal sense...
Ok, I agree with you on the basic fact that, in a literal sense, these shows may not be literally "the worst possible" show to have on... Although I'm not really sure what, in fact, _would_ be worse... Animal Rape Crisis Center? :0

But MSNBC could get off their asses and go 24/7 on us. Rerun other shows, biographical info on political figures, international news, deeper house and senate coverage, a science program devoted to people working on the fuel crisis and alternative technologies...

So much for MSNBC to do, I just feel like they have such massive ratings, they should just go all the way with it. No one there can see this?

Maybe I should get Charlie from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" to present my staggeringly brilliant suggestions to the suits at NBC.

"MSNBC
24/7 Politics All Over Your Ass"

lol...

Could they borrow some documentaries from History Channel or something? Some re-runs? A game show about newz? ANYthing besides "Lockup?"!!

Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 08:45 PM by TheKentuckian
maybe we (in concert with other like minded people) could buy it and use it to bludgeon the Republiscum. Perhaps even down the line we can actually make money off it and funnel it back to progressive candidates.

do we need to see this shit??
I agree: news. More news. Biographical info on political figures.
REALLY compete with the fuckers at Fux "News."
Maybe even do some investigations into the anti-Americanism of Michele Bachmann. :sarcasm:
But ANYTHING other than the damn prison crap.

when the coup occurred in Venezuela they took all the news off the air and substituted it with movies.

20. I know, the transition is always kind of jarring.
I think there must be two different factions butting heads in MSNBC management. The real crime documentaries are riveting, but when they run them back to back on weekends, it starts to get disturbing.

21. "My fellow Prisoners..."
i guess we know what McCain watches on the weekends. lol
I am also sick of those prison shows. Same ones....same violent scumbags grandstanding for the cameras.
Weekends would be good for some quirky off beat politcal shows. a DU/Free Republic, Point-Counter Point show would be funny. Their "brightest" vs. our Best, that would be worth watching.

23. Live Shows Cost Real Money
It's cheaper to run these canned reruns than to pay people to do actual news on the weekends. That's why when someone wants bad news, they dump it on Friday evening...the newsrooms won't pay attention to it, if at all, until Monday.

unless "LOCKUP" or "The Smarmy Chris Hansen Show" is on. So I guess it's not really NEVER. More like ALL THE TIME.

28. Blame Dan Abrams
loved his show when it was on, but when Abrams ran MSNBC he put these specials on and found they got marginally better ratings than news programs and repeats. I guess with a smaller share they need all the ad money they can get. :(
