New Mexico crowds: McCain 1000. Obama 35,000 (and that's just the folks inside the event!)

"The consensus among media covering the McCain event was that his crowd numbered approximately 1,000. A crowd count released during Obama's rally by the University of New Mexico fire marshal tallied 35,000 who entered the gates at the event�s perimeter, and the campaign estimated that another 10,000 to 15,000 stood outside it. (McCain's campaign does not release crowd estimates.)"

And to think, a few weeks ago New Mexico was considered a battleground state.

"Barack Obama hosted the largest political rally in Albuquerque history Saturday night at Johnson Field at the University of New Mexico, attracting a crowd that television stations estimated at 35,000 and the Associated Press put at 45,000. Whatever the number, it was a once-in-a-generation political event and if it had any predicative powers for what what will happen Election Night John McCain is in for a world of hurt. The Obama rally outdrew McCain's rally held earlier in the day at the NM Expo grounds by a margin of 35 to 1."
