I have a overnight bag packed & I will be protesting IF the election is stolen - DU, WE NEED A PLAN

There is absolutely ZERO question that the Republicans will try to steal a third election. They are purging voters all over the nation. The New York Times reported that for every voter registered in North Carolina, TWO voters are purged.

http://obrag.org/?p=1661

And, we have Bush trying to override the Supreme Court in Ohio. He has ordered a DOJ investigation; in sum he is trying to throw out over a quarter million votes.

Beware the false polls of Zogby & AP. I have no doubt their polling methods are suspect. However, the sole purpose of these polls is to generate a case that the election is close. They NEED that foundation to steal yet another election. Absolutely nothing has changed that would sway voters in any significant polling percentage. These polls are red herrings.

Our hope is that Obama will win in such a landslide that their cheating will not work. And, it could happen. I hope and pray that it does. But, with voting machines flipping Obama votes to McCain before our very eyes, we can't ignore the possibility that the GOP will pull off an upset through blatant cheating. The question then becomes, what do we do?

First, we must wait to see how Obama responds in such a scenario. My hunch is he will fight back with everything he has got, and he will probably lay out a strategy on how we fight the coming battle.

Second, we must commit ourselves now, totally and completely to protesting in the streets. I have no question of what I will do, if this nightmare scenario should happen. I will go to the largest protest in the nation (most likely Washington), and I will stay until the end. I have two spots in my car and any fellow DU'er is welcome to join me. My husband and I had a long talk, and we both agreed that we will have to pull our daughter out of school and fight. The decision has been made. I think it is exceedingly important to have this discussion with your friends and family NOW, so that if the need arises, you will have travel plans already made and networking in place to head to large scale protests. And, I think we should use DU to network our rides and protest plans.

I will go even if they put the army in Washington to try to stop us.

I will go even if they arrest people in mass scale.

I will go because I can't live with myself, if this happens again.

We have had two elections stolen from us, and it absolutely can not be allowed to happen again. It is simply not a option.

:grr:

2. I honestly think we are going to see another election night like
2006. I usually watch the MSNBC coverage, and I can still see Tweety, wide eyed, as he called ANOTHER Dem win! I remember hearing him talk about this being a rout and the Dems have NOT OLST EVEN ONE SEAT but the Pubs are losing in all the contests!

I expect to see a very similar thing on Nov 4th!

7. I hope you are right - That would be fantastic - I am just preparing myself to be ready

I need to do that type of thing. I can't just go from Obama is going to win to McCain steals election. I would waste too much time in depression in despair. I am mentally preparing myself to seriously act.

3. My sister, nephew, my dog and I...
will be hopping in her car and driving to DC on Nov 5th if this election is stolen. We will be protesting right in front of the WH, or as close to the WH as we can get, and yes, we will be camping our asses right there.

I've taken off election week just for that purpose--or to celebrate my ass off should Obama take his rightful place as POTUS.

12. That's the kind of stuff we should be organizing...
...massive, sustained, non-violent non-cooperation is where the real power of the citizenry could be exercised. Gandhi and MLK both taught this lesson by putting it in action and did so very effectively.

Easy to talk about -- not so easy to do.

I think you are being overly dramatic and worried about something that is not going to happen.

15. Election theft is very much a reality now.
The GOP stole elections in '00, '02, '04, and '06, and thus far they've enjoyed total impunity and very little attention from media. The FBI never even batted an eye at what they did in Ohio in '04.

She's not being overly dramatic.

20. If all goes well, we'll have lost nothing and we can celebrate.
If it doesn't, we won't be caught flatfooted.

Do you remember, OKNancy, that on election night 2004, there was rioting at the OH statehouse? Most people never even knew about it because the reporting was fleeting. But, those people already knew what it took years to confirm: they stole Ohio.

I don't see any harm in having a contingency plan.

13. Yes.
I was prepared to do this in '04. We will be staying local, camped out in front of the Board of Elections or perhaps Public Square. Finances don't allow us to close up shop for any length of time, unfortunately, or we would join you in DC.

I believe this is every citizen's responsibility and I hope many, many people across this land are preparing to fight for our Democracy.

21. Do you know how to put up petitions on line?
We should put up a simple one that people can sign to commit to the protest. Nothing hysterical just:

" If our votes go uncounted and our elected president is not seated, I will go to Washington D.C. and stay there until he is sworn in."

Whaddya think?
