Welcome To Asheville, Governor Palin
http://www.creatingprogress.blogspot.com/

Careful you don't turn into a pillar of salt.

::::::::

If you have never been to Asheville before, Governor, you may not want to do to much wandering around outside the friendly confines of the Civic Center and away from your kool-aid drinking constituents. The Civic Center where you will be speaking is dangerously close to a very popular lesbian bookstore and I would not want myself or any of my friends who would like to marry our partners but cannot, because of people like you, to harm your heterosexual marriage by simply existing in the same city block as you.

While it is true that Asheville is surrounded by some counties where your back-assward ideas are pretty popular and you might want to paddle faster when you hear the banjo music, it is itself a very progressive city. It would not be unlikely at all for you to see a same-sex couple behaving in a manner that does not defer to your delicate and fragile conservative sensibilities. This is not Sodom and Gomorrha, Governor, but we are not afraid to hold hands in public here. Careful you don't turn into a pillar of salt. But don't worry, Governor, if you do, we'll know its you by the Akris Punto red leather jacket.

1. Hi Tekisui - wish we were there to "greet" her!
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 10:32 AM by bear425
I loved seeing Kucinich at Malaprops the time we met. Hope Asheville gives Sister Sarah a truly warm and loving welcome...

edit: sarcasm intended

3. I am sure they will. I may swing by to see who shows for each side.
But, I can't stay long, my sanity won't allow it, and I have to met my mom for lunch.:hi:

2. Eloquently said, Tekisui
Wish I were in Asheville right now -- is it pretty out there, or have the leaves already peaked? They're just starting to really turn in Charlotte.

4. We are peaking,
We are in that breath taking phase where certain trees blind you with color.

8. I remember when my mom came to
Asheville for a visit from Colorado in the '70's and we went to the Biltmore Castle. I took a pic of the trees, that you describe, from the window in October.

5. HAHA HaHahahaha - they did not VET Asheville. I love it that they
chose Asheville because it is in NC.

My son lives there, but had to spend the night in Charlotte. He is RUSHING home to protest, and says he is so laughing his head off about their choice of cities.

She may have a little hand picked choir to preach to, but, like the article says, she should not stray even and inch for fear of serious ridicule haunting her butt.

If she wears the red jacket, she might get lost in the incredibly beautiful spectacle of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the fall, and maybe we won't find her again until after the election.

9. That's the joke
Confusing Asheboro with Asheville

Hilarity at its finest

Or not

10. I love Asheville!
I seriously doubt her visit will sway any undecided voters, though. Her base of bible-thumpers that will be in attendance today won't improve their poll numbers in NC.

Wouldn't it be great if there were more protesters than attendees?

11. Watch out for the various forms of Witchcraft!
Asheville is the "Salem of the South". I know many Pagan folk that live in that town. Sister Sarah is in for a big surprise...

13. She's going to Asheville? Is the entire campaign on drugs? Asheville?
Earlier I suggested that McCain come to the Carrboro Farmer's Market to ask for votes. McCain going to Asheville is pretty much the same thing. Wait. She probably wants a photo op at Biltmore.

Or would she?
