FREEPER: Albuquerque rally of 45,000 was actually a Santana concert!
"Well,,I though you guys might like the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey says. Obama's (Peace be upon him)event was held in the center of the University village. And the press keeps forgetting one little detail, it was a free concert featuring Carlos Santana. For my freeper friends across the country, he's still a massive celebrity out here with the Latino community. The crowd thinned *quickly* after the show. They werent waiting around for "the one"."

Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 01:20 PM by Sebastian Doyle
But I don't know if he could sell 45,000 tickets these days?

BTW, why would Freepers be listening to a guy who sings about a "Black Magic Woman"?? Isn't that "Satanic"??

Uh, yeah, I think he could. I'm a little baffled at what part of the country doesn't appreciate Carlos Santana.

49. I was there too!
Can I be a witness!! I didn't see Carlos Santana either. There was a rumor, but I think it got started by a possible leak that a Hispanic entertainer would be there. It turned out to be George Lopez, who was very funny. I checked the Santana website to see if it showed any concert having been at the UNM campus that day. All I found was that Santana was not on tour at this time, and I also checked "Gig" dates, and that too showed no performance by Santana anywhere that day. Although, Santana would have been better than the coffee house type band that played. I think the crowd was tired of hearing the "mix CD's" being played over and over again while we waited but, I for one was happy to hear that CD mix music again after that band. But...no one left the field until after Obama spoke, even though we were kept waiting for a long time. News reported 35,000 inside the rally, and 10 -15,000 around the outside. Sadly (not really), only 1500 showed up at McCain rally earlier in the day.

Apparently, there was a college football game that drew the crowd that decided to stay for Obama. :eyes: Jealousy is SO dangerous for one's health. The rate of ulcers popping up in their Party must be alarming and I say that with compassion; these people need help.

51. About 1500, but who's counting?
I think he only expected a small crowd because he reserved an area within the fairgrounds that is very small (Spanish Village), and is surrounded by buildings. I think he did this to make it look as though it was jammed with people - yaaa, like a whole 1,500! Wooo! We need crowd control here! Hillary had a rally in southern NM that morning and drew more people than McCain's Albuquerque rally (2,800).
