Looks gold to me. Gold fluctuated between $400 and $500 an ounce in 1988. You decide...

5. Yeah, and cost her $35 to resize and engrave. That sounds about right.

Edit... it does look quite small, and could easily have been just $35 when it was bought.

2. Where did they buy a gold wedding band for $35?
A hock shop? I was married in 1989, and didn't spend a fortune on my ring, but it was still in three digits.

3. Depends on whether it's 10K, 12K, 14K, or 18K gold and
when she bought it.

gold hasn't always been $900/oz.

4. Mine's gold, cost $30
in 1982, at a pawn shop.

I don't doubt they had a working class life.

8. True, they likely did at one time. It's believable that it cost $35. It doesn't change anything.

9. $25,000 tanning bed
$50,000 mansion remodel, $150,000 VP makeover...

A $30 wedding band changes absolutely nothing.

12. Wedding bands are pretty cheap...
It's not unreasonable for her to suggest that her wedding band was $35.

My band is thin and gold, and it has a line of tiny diamonds. It was around $100.

Remember, Sarah was pregnant when she got married and she eloped. They
probably went out and just bought a cheap ring.

13. She belongs to Assemblies of God. I am surprised she wears any
jewelry at all. Not a very godly woman, apparently.

They probably got the ring at a pawn shop.
