So much for a nice walk in the park

We met up with a friend of my husband, and he was with a lady friend. I knew right away when he said I'd like to see Barney Frank's head on a stick." Whew.... then of course we split up and we women walked ahead. This person who I just met asked me who I was voting for. I told her Obama and she said that she didn't know about supporting him because of his socialism. I asked her to explain and she couldn't ..said something like people who make more than $250,00 aren't really rich and they were the ones who hired other people. I had to explain that this was for personal income and that it was corporations who hire people. Then she said that the multi-national corps should pay higher taxes and I told her that McCain wants to cut taxes for them.

What I realized is that we are up against people who only hear sound bites (bytes)and talking points. I'm sure glad that I visit DU, it has helped me enormously to speak to these people. I think that by the time we parted ways that she was a bit less sure of her support of McCain.

That being said, it ruined my appreciation of the autumn foliage and the serenity of the park. I went to get away from this. I guess I'll have to wait till after the election and appreciate the winter landscape instead.

At work my husband is around lots more Republicans than I am, and he's always telling me that they don't research anything, just listen to Fixed News and think they're getting the whole story.
