Anti-abortion email.
There's an email going around by somebody called Huntley Brown.
"Why I can't vote for Obama"
Never heard of the guy, but he bills himself as a "Christian concert pianist".
It's a single issue broadside about how Obama "supports" abortion.

A 'friend' of mine sent it out to all on his email list.
He's a die hard repug.
Trouble is, this guy's daughter-in-law has had two abortions.

Now the first was for what I would consider reasonable medical reasons.
Too complicated to go into here.
When my friend and his wife told us about it, we understood.
And I DID NOT say "You know, if it wasn't for Democrats she would not have had that option. She might have gotten a back alley abortion and maybe died."
Nope, I didn't say that.
But I thought it.

The second was entirely for convenience.
They already have one child, and due to finances and other reasons, a new baby would have been 'inconvenient'.

And this guy just doesn't get it.
Or refuses to.
I am so disappointed with him.
To the point of disgust.
:grr:

2. How interesting that your acquaintance's daughter in law offers that info.
Why would the couple tell people, beyond a few close friends, that she has had abortions? It's not something people usually advertise. Unless, they are making a statement to father/father in law.

8. OK, the rest of the story:
The daughter-in-law is from the Czech Republic.
She and my friend's son were married there.
She had to have a number of inoculations so that she could come to the U.S. with her husband.
For measles, among others.

After they arrived here she discovered that she was pregnant.
Her doctor told her the effect of the inoculations on the fetus would likely not be good.
Her pregnancy was closely monitored and the doctor's prediction proved to be true. Don't know the details.

At dinner one night we asked our friends how she was doing. That's when they told us about the abortion.

5. Maybe you should write back
and say that you aren't surprised; you expect hypocrites to vote for M*.

BTW: Snopes has this e-mail--it is true (there is a confirmation from the author), but there's also this--

We note that there is uncertainty over whether Mr. Brown, who was born in Jamaica, is actually a U.S. citizen (and thus eligible to vote) or merely a U.S. resident (and thus not eligible to vote).

9. Snopes only confirmed author, not content.
They didn't address the 'information' in the email.
Just confirmed that the guy whose name is on it actually wrote it.

6. Whats not to get? Why is it that people forgot what the anti-choice people are really trying to do?
Every since Reagan first jumped onto the anti choice band wagon it was a well known fact that anti choice are trying to prevent the second coming from being aborted, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with right or wrong but the fear of the second coming of Jesus will be stopped. It's why anti choice laws are directed at the poor, the rich always can leave the country to other countries that have legal abortion laws and easy access to the morning after pill.

Sure they make up good excuses why abortion is wrong, but the problem is, to those that bother to think without the emotional garbage their reasoning falls flat in light of the fact that once the fetus is out of the womb all interest in the fetus ends. When they say this will be the next David Hawkins or the next gifted one, reality is more on the side that this fetus has an greater then equal chance of being the next gang banger, drug dealer, thief or republicon corrupted public servant.

Thats the only reason to be anti choice, they are trying to do gods job by protecting the next Jesus, remember most of the rabid anti choice folks out their are fundies, who think america is the chosen land the bible speaks of.

7. It the religious nutz god is all powerful, why can't S/he do anything on its own?
Why does it have to depend on mere mortals to it's work?
