I am an absolute nervous wreck.
And there is a different reason for that every hour. I have become just like my father who lived through Democratic disasters from Humphrey through Kerry. It makes you cynical, and now that I am old enough to remember these campaigns since 1988, I have become the same way. I am, in short, a basket case right now, worrying about something, anything, and waiting for some horrible shoe to drop. And I admit that most of my fears are not well-founded upon logical reflection.

In the past 48 hours I have been panicked about one or more of the following at a given time (in so specific order):

Zogby polls.

The tape the LA Times has (which is probably nothing, but it would require a long intellectual explanation, and those don't fly at the point we are at in the calendar right now).

The re-emergence of the "Bradley Effect".

Rasmussen polls.

Adam Nagourney's CW-driving bullshit.

Pennsylvania.

People lying to pollsters.

People telling the truth to pollsters.

"Casual voters", who treat voting as the equivalent of picking up carton of milk at the store.

A bin Laden tape.

Lazy college students.

Colorado.

Undecided dumb dumbs.

A terrorist attack.

White people.

Joe Biden's big mouth.

Jack Murtha's big mouth.

Long lines in Philadelphia that don't move.

Long lines in Cleveland that don't move.

Basically anything with the word "Florida" in the same sentence.

"Likely voter" models.

What if a real Ashley Todd type of attack were to take place?

All the shit that Drudge just makes up, and the huge number of people who eat it all up.

What if you shit and fall back in it?

In other words, you can control only you.

3. Want my advise?
Don't leave your house and certainly do not cross the street.
Take 2 sleeping pills at about 5:00 p.m. on election day (if you voted early or by mail).
Wake up on Wednesday morning.
You should be fine after that.

7. worry much?
Take deep breaths, turn off MSNBC, click off the computer, and spend the next 6 days either campaigning or in a dark, quiet, empty room.

10. Go out on a date, or if you're in a relationship, spend quality time with your partner.
That's a polite way of saying it.
