James Dobson ad this morning on large radio station in Louisville Kentucky
While I was driving my daughter to school this morning, my good morning was ruined by an ad by focus on the family. This is one of the largest radio stations in the area and the ad played at exactly 8am. It made me almost pull over and vomit. They used some child to tell the story of how she was an abortion survivor and that Obama was against saving babies from failed abortions. It was so sickening and in this area people on their way to work will hear this crap and will think Obama is pure evil. I told my husband last night that the only thing McCain/Palin haven't done is call Obama satan. Well, they pretty much did in that sickening, stupid ad. I am so pissed that my day was ruined by this insanity. I am honestly thinking about keeping all media turned off until this is over with. Maybe I'll just stick with Spongebob dvd's for the next few days. Has anyone else heard this video? And I'd like to add some info about it to my blog.
And if you want to complain to the radio station and the dj's who were on during this sickening ad, here's their email address.
benandkellyshow@gmail.com or go to www.wdjx.com
I wonder how many other stations FOF have bought up spreading this crap? I don't even want to know.

2. I normally listen to Radio Louisville (WFPK 91.9 - no commercials!) or 102.3 the Max on the way

Is WDJX owned by a conglomerate? What's their political inclination? I doubt the ad buy was a local decision. Need to go further up the chain.

3. I did just send them this email:
Good morning.

It has come to my attention that at 8am today, an ad from the hate-filled, pseudo-Christian organization named Focus on the Family was played by your station. Focus on the Family is a front by the radical cleric, James Dobson and is strongly anti-gay and pushes inaccurate and misleading information regarding pro-choice options for women.

I am saddened that your station has condoned the bigoted hatred of Focus of the Family. I sincerely hope this ad buy was a decision made somewhere higher up and not from here in Louisville.

I shall, however, boycott listening to WDJX from now on as I cannot support a station that would support a hate merchant like James Dobson.

4. Hasn't he got a non for profit church status because of his...
profession? Isn't he a "reverend" with a congregation and a TV show that rakes in large amounts of money, tax free because of his status?

When will our government start revoking these exemptions for some of these people who continuously break the rules under the tax exempts provisions by spewing racist, homophobic, xenophobic hate speech during political processes?

Republicans are so damn scared a poor family might get a dime of their tax dollars, but yet they support these assholes who are some of the biggest welfare ripoff artists in this country's history.

falwell is gone, pat robertson must be turning a 100 years old soon and dobson looks like he's a heart attack waiting to happen. Maybe they're another breed of dinosaur that's becoming extinct in this country. One could only hope so.

6. Response from Kelly K >>>>>>>>>>
Hi (Roland99)

Thanks for your point of view...unfortunately, we can't cherry pick our ads. By government law, we can't deny advertising time to anyone that doesn't technically violate FCC rules and regulations. I personally didn't hear it, as we are busy taking calls or preparing upcoming segments.

Obviously, NONE of our ads reflect the personal opinions of the station or anyone on it. We don't choose sides as a media outlet, and frankly, no other media entity should in my opinion. It's not our job to tell people how to vote or what to think. That's up to everyone to do their research into the candidates and decide based on their own values. If we refused ads based on content that we didn't personally like, then that would be a violation of freedom of speech...something that makes America the great nation it is. If someone wanted to buy advertising time to refute that ad, they are certainly welcome to contact a sales executive here and do so.

I'm with ya, but our hands are tied. The best thing you can do is get out and vote on November 4th! Let your voice be heard that way!!

I hope that sheds some light on the tough position we're in right now, and that you'll continue to listen to the station for the music. And you can certainly let our management know of your thoughts by calling 625-1220, and search for Dale Schaefer in the dial directory.

Take care...

Kelly K

7. I received the same response...
And I understand the dj's hands are tied but when it's out and out lies....

I can't deal with it. I don't like the music DJX plays anyway. I'm more of a hard rock/heavy metal person but I am giving this creep a call. I'd love to know how many calls they got on this. Apparently a few since they have a canned response already.
