The Message - Bush Is A Liar
For those of you quibbling over the effectiveness of the Texans for truth ads or the new revelations about Bush's shirking of his guard duty - these are very important ingredients to a momentum shift at a pivotal point in this campaign.

Karl Rove was able for a solid month to make John Kerry the issue in the campaign by going after his credibility with a strong message, coming from different attackers - swiftboat smearers, Bush surrogates, Cheney, Bush himself: all on message conveying the same thing: Kerry is a manipulative man with no core convictions. An overly ambitious flip flopper.

Now it's our turn. The message is simple, and it is credible, because it is the truth: Bush is a liar. He lied about the National Guard, he lied about his service to this country, he lied about his drug use, he lied about taking us into Iraq, he lied about being a uniter not a divider, he lied about being a patriot instead of just being a power hungry thug.

The message can and must come from a whole variety of sources: Texans For Truth, Kitty Kelley, mainstream media hyping the AWOL stories, campaign surrogates pounding on Iraq - it's all different threads woven together to make the whole quilt - Bush is a liar.

After two or three weeks of this, you will see dramatic shifts in polling numbers, because a cohesive message, backed up facts, and coming from thirty different directions always breaks through.

Let Kerry and Edwards ride above the fray and deliver the positive message that they need to: their policy agenda for the country.

But the underlying, complementary negative part of the campaign that is now being formed, and will destroy Bush, is the one thing he's most scared of: a cohesive attack on his character.

Message - Bush Is A Liar.

4. Also, the implicit message: Bush is a coward.
Of course no one must ever say this, but strong hints can be made:

Why did he find it necessary to use his family connections to get into TANG, when many others were going to Vietnam?

Why did he maintain this coverup for 30 years instead of simply admitting the truth?

Given his history of avoiding Vietnam and failing to fulfill his obligations, how dare he have his surrogates viciously attack thois veterans who did serve... McCain, Cleland, Kerry.... and then try to hide the fact that he was attacking them?

5. Because he is a coward.
And he knows it. And the only way to fool himself into believing he comes anywhere close to the character of these men is to cut them down to shreds.

17. I don't want to be fair, but --
Lots of people didn't want to go to Vietnam because they didn't want to DIE or get wounded. I honestly don't consider it cowardice. What I have a problem with is THE LYING ABOUT IT and then ATTACKING OTHER PEOPLE'S service. Clinton didn't go to Vietnam, and he was still a FABULOUS President. Please let this NOT be about NOT wanting to get shot at (a sensible course for the sane), but be about the character of the man who tried to cover it up....:)

6. Absatively: it rings true
He lied about defrauding investors (Aloha Petroleum) while at Harken, then used inside knowledge of Hussein's impending attack on Kuwait to unload 850K worth of stock before a quarterly report that torpedoed its value. He lied about Hussein not complying with the inspections. He lied by saying "we didn't have any inkling" that anything was wrong with the pre-war intelligence. He lied by saying that we'd learned about the Niger Uranium from the British; we knew it was bogus, we knew their source, and we didn't learn it from them. He lied about hardly knowing Ken Lay before 1994, and distorted more by saying Lay had supported Ann Richards in that election when he'd contributed more than seven times as much to Bush.

And on and on and on. Flim-Flam. Lying sack of shit.

He lies about Kerry "voting for the war" and "agreeing with me on Iraq": Kerry NEVER "voted for the war", he voted to give authority to the President to force inspections and negotiation; those were never sincerely attempted.

7. Add one word: FAILURE
He FAILED to (despite heavy family connections) get into law school,
HE FAILED to complete his Natl. Guard physical and was grounded
He FAILED to complete his Guard service as prescribed,
He FAILED while running 2 businesses (Arbusto & Spectrum) with friends' money
He FAILED to observe SEC regulations re the sale of Harkin Stock
He was a FAILURE as a governor, and now as president.
And to cover each of these FAILURES he LIES

Tag him with both terms: LIAR and a FAILURE---a great "tag team".

10. This should have been the message all along
so many in the campaign have made the mistake of trying to show Bush to be the bigger flip-flopper. All that does is reinforce "flip-flop" which is associated with Kerry. Folks will vote for a flip-flopper over a liar everytime.
