Since the saber rattling began in 2002 I became quite vocal in our cubes. A very nice but scatterbrained and politicly lazy (survives on media soundbites) coworker decided to trust the 1-liners about WMD and support the war. This woman has become, for me, the symbol of the average American. Very self involved, trying to make ends meet, blissfully (and willfully) ignorant, claiming not enough time to find out more than what she sees in the headline of USA Today that sits on the rack as she buys her morning starbucks.
Well today she started talking about how she fell for the WMD line and now feels betrayed and that the President's credibility is obliterated. I said "you know what you need to do now right?"
She said "vote?"
"You needed to do that anyway" said I "What you need to do is take a moment and check out more than just the headline. And I, and many others here, can help you"
Let's just ignore the fact that I was ranting on a daily basis about the lies and PNAC crap since day 1 and she chose not to listen to me. At the very least the events of the last year and a half have sown seeds of deep mistrust of her government in her mind - now that's something to be hopeful of.
Now if only we could get this type of thing to happen en mass in a swing state!
Keep it up DU - we're gonna win this one!
