Spoil the October Surprise...
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 10:56 AM by Richardo
...I see a need for a 'loose cannon' outside the campaign (Michael Moore comes to mind - the media LOVES to give him airtime) to tout over and over again, like a freakin' town crier, the distinct possibility that BushCo will unleash an 'October Surprise' to affect the election. (Randi Rhodes got me thinking about this during her show yesterday - she too is convinced something is afoot)

Of course the number one surprise would be the capture or killing of OBL. Number two could be a 'foiled' major terrorist attack in the US. Number three could be a 'non-foiled' attack on the US - or magically uncovering the Iraqi WMDs.

The point is that if it's out there in the public's mind as a cynical political manipulation, it will decrease the effectiveness of the surprise when BushCo tries to roll it out.

3. Hows this for an idea?
Hire "DOG" the bounty hunter and set him loose and I bet he brings back Osama in a week.

4. No OBL Capture
Several people in the administration are claiming that they are "close to a big capture in Pakistan" (giving no names), but Pakistani officials have flatly denied this, calling such claims campaign stunts.

6. Absolutely critical to destroy Bush credibility before October
If Bush is viewed as a scam-artist then his October gimicks
will lose their potency. That is one reason why negative
information on Bush (i.e. the Truth) was critical in the spring and
is critical now.

Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 11:14 AM by John_H
Graham's retiring, Dean can do it without overstating it, and Moore will get major play.

8. Osama needs to become a "Too Little, Too Late" point.
Of course they are going to produce him or maybe even a reasonable facsimile -- who cares? The guy has had THREE YEARS to do his dirty work. What did JESUS accomplish in THREE YEARS -- before cell phones, fax machines and the internet? Begin the negating now, please.

9. Ever wonder why Pakistan was able to spread nuclear tech
without repercussions? OBL has been on ice, dead or alive, for many months. If there wasn't a quid pro quo in there someplace, I'd be astonished.

12. We have a potential "October Surprise".
I hope Seymour Hersh exposes the rape of Iraqi children at Abu Ghraib in October. That would be the last straw for Independent voters.

13. Number Four - a strike against Iran
Either by us or by Israel. We'd be "at war" again. Can't change horses, etc.
