Did shrubya "manage a budget in Texas"....?
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 11:00 AM by cthrumatrix
I'm not talking about his "nose candy budget". How in the hell can this man - in soo little time - destroy the solvency of this country.

* record deficits

* the US dollar on the verge of becoming toliet paper

eveything he touches ..turns to shit

1. He didn't manage squat in Texas.
The Lieutenant Governor does all the heavy lifting in Texas. The Governor is more of a figurehead who proposes things. Virtually all of Bush*s proposals went nowhere.

7. Yep, the Gov of Texas is a photo-op job
They have a few high-profile, high visibility jobs, but as was so well stated above, the Lite does all the heavy work. Bush's Lt., Bullock, was the master and very effective. When he left office and then died the state fell apart.

Seriously, many tried to warn - few listened.

13. Bush*s one BIG proposal in Texas was a tax cut!
It was SO tilted towards wealthy property owners that even the Republicans in the Texas Legislature voted against it. It was a clear indication of things to come...

His school funding proposals got laughed away by everyone.

The other "big" thing he did was to veto the Texas Patient's Bill of Rights. Again, even the Republicans voted for the veto override. That, of course, didn't stop Chimpy from TAKING CREDIT for the PBoR in his debate with Gore. And naturally, neither Gore nor the media hammered him on it.

15. National Enquirer
http://dc.indymedia.org/newswire/display/77326

Remember how much you played up Monica Lewinsky?s blow jobs and Paula Jones? sexual harassment lawsuit against Clinton in the 1990s, while ignoring or downplaying extramarital activities by the hypocritical Republicans who served on Clinton?s impeachment committee like Henry Hyde and Bob Barr? Remember how much you covered Gennifer Flowers? affair allegations ? which did not even include a lawsuit ? against Clinton, while ignoring or downplaying affair allegations against more prominent Republicans like Newt Gingrich and Bush Jr.?

6. Oh hell no! The Lt. Governor and Speaker of the House have much
more control over the budget than the Governor. The Governor here is a glorified figure-head. He or she can has to work with the legislature to get their programs funded.

10. No, Governor is not that powerful in Texas
Bob Bullock, the Lt. Gov., really ran the state during most of Bush's time as governor. Bush did not do much but watch people get executed.

11. Exactly,
The Texas governorship is NOT what would be called a Powerful Position. I knew we were in trouble during the 2000 campaign when Shrub said that he was going to "do for America what he did for Texas." I used to live in Houston, my brother still does, and I know firsthand what a mess it turned into because of the Shrub.
