Tiny, remote N.H. town enjoys being first in nation to report votes on election day

Late Monday night, all of the precinct's registered voters — there were 17 in January's presidential primary — will gather in the Ballot Room of The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel. At midnight, they'll vote. No lines, no waiting — each voter has his own voting booth.

New Hampshire law permits precincts to announce results as soon as all registered voters have cast ballots. In Dixville Notch, that takes about a minute. There always are news organizations ready to beam the results to the world.

1. I'm done with Dixville Notch. They had Obama beating Clinton and well, we know how that went.
