I really hate Beanie Babies. Years ago I worked with a woman who collected them and I thought she was an idiot.

My daughter and I stopped at the neighborhood Hallmark yesterday to purchase a birthday card for one of her friends. I glanced at the Beanie Baby display and there he was -

The most adorable little red, white and blue donkey - his name tag read "Lefty".

I've never bought a Beanie Baby for myself but yesterday I did - I rescued Lefty from that store, took him away from that evil elephant sitting next to him and gave him a good home.

He now sits on my coffee table in all his Democratic glory; he will watch Obama become our 44th president with my family.

:kick:

(I know this is a corny post, but I really love the little guy). ;)

1. I have one, too
I bought it four years ago and it's been on my desk ever since.

I actually have about 4 or 5 donkeys. One is even a Pez dispenser.

7. My little plush democratic mascot is one that I got as a child
he's a steiff and he looks similar to this:

but he's festooned with a red, white and blue ribbon. My parents were also Democratic activists when I was young, so naturally I loved my little Democratic Donkey and kept him into my adulthood. :-)

13. Good. Now can we get you to stop buying Hallmark products now?
Their world headquarters is here. I used to work in a Gold Crown Store and I know the Hall family. They are HUGE Bush supporters. I haven't bought one Hallmark product since they helped Bush get selected in 2000.

And no, I don't miss those Beanie Baby sales. Those people are insane.

14. Thanks for the info on Hallmark.
I already knew they were on the right; only go there in a pinch. :hi:

15. Since they are hometown people I bought from them exclusively for years
They are also fairly nice folks and well-respected here. But when I started seeing their name connected with Bush, I looked up their donations and they gave him the max both in 2000 and 2004. And they have hosted huge fundraisers for him here.
