For nearly a year, Obama had one Senate endorsement. (PICS)
This Senator is the main reason we have Barack as our nominee. He recognized a great leader and pushed him to run for President.

For nearly a year he was the only Senator who endorsed Barack Obama. My 'other' Senator, Dick Durbin.

He is always around making sure things go just right, and doesn't get credit much. If any one man has Baracks back, it is Dick Durbin.

Can we give it up for Dick Durbin...

Reid being out means John Porter swaps his house seat for a senate seat. Trust me, you dont want that.

19. Don't forget Ted Kennedy
Just thinking that Ted will see Obama get elected brings tears to my eyes. In an election full of so-called game changers, his endorsement truly shifted the dynamics in Obama's favor for good.

21. Durbin is a great senator.
Will win re-election easily on tuesday. I caught a bit of that "radio debate" last week, his opponent is a complete idiot. Seems like the republicans didn't want to bother with a serious challenger.

24. Durbin is great and he also sees the big picture: a Senate majority
The DSCC received transfers from about 20 senators, including $1 million apiece from Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry , who was the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, and Illinois Sen. Richard J. Durbin , who ranks second in the Democratic Senate hierarchy as Majority Whip. The DSCC also received a $250,000 transfer from the Senate campaign of Delaware Democrat Joseph R. Biden Jr. , the Democratic vice-presidential nominee who is expected to easily win a new Senate term he is simultaneously seeking, but may never serve.

<...>

Notable transfers from campaign committees of Democratic senators

• Richard J. Durbin of Illinois: $1 million

• John Kerry of Massachusetts: $1 million

• Jack Reed of Rhode Island: $400,000

• Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware: $250,000

• Tom Harkin of Iowa: $250,000

• Dianne Feinstein of California: $250,000

• Carl Levin of Michigan: $150,000

• Robert Menendez of New Jersey: $100,000

25. I am SO grateful for established party figures who supported Obama early on.
I really thought the powers that be (or the powers that were) were going to railroad us into having Hillary as the nominee, whether we liked it or not. So glad there were people brave enough to look beyond name recognition to help us get the inspirational candidate who is kicking ass and taking names! :bounce:

37. I hope it's Tammy...
Not that I am not as fond or actually fonder of Jesse Jackson Jr. Would just like to see some gender equity in the Senate. And Tammy is currently not serving as a political representative - JJ Jr. is.

And condolences to your family. I hope that Barack Obama will make medical research and affordable health insurance one of the key pieces of his first term. I think you would appreciate that for other families who have lost a child to disease. May Christine Durbin rest in peace.
