I just saw John McCain's SNL sketch, and I gotta say...
...I was flabbergasted. When a presidential candidate goes on a comedy show the weekend before the election and makes fun of how poorly his campaign has been run and how detrimental his running mate selection was ...

...he knows it's over.

1. why?
McCain is looking for any free air time he can get, even if it means groveling and acting the fool. I didn't find much of SNL funny last night, with the exception of the KO skit. I'm a huge KO fan but that skit was hilarious. Just goes to prove that you can find humor when even your heroes are mocked. I just didn't think anything about the McCain bits were funny.

10. Yeah, it was funny. Now I guess I have to figure out if I want to drink a beer with him. After all
the msm told me last election that this was an important consideration in choosing a president.

2. One look at Cindy's face, as she stood behind him at some rally this morning
will confirm that. She's SO over this. She's SO tired and fed up. All over her face it says - "for Pete's sake, john, can we just GO now????"

4. Going on SNL to humanize yourself
would have been a better idea in all that dead time he had. It was a terrible idea 3 days before an election. I just confirmed in peoples mind that he isn't presidential.

5. True. We are in that phase in which people WILL vote for the perceived Winner. Absent

any other over-riding reason, they'll vote because they don't want to vote for the one they think will be the Loser, so a move such as SNL at this time is NOT a vote-changer, because he's saying something like "We might lose."

6. I agree.
People want to be on the winning team at this point. And if you're still undecided, you're either not going to vote at all, or the votes will appear in a random data pattern, not all a flood for one candidate or another.

9. Yep. Even if the "vote for the Winner" argument doesn't work, there're other candidates on the
ballots.

:hi: donco6 -> Hoping here, that no matter what happens on 11/04/08, you all are IN this thing for the long haul! NGU!!! :hi:

8. Most of his stuff on SNL was funny., and sorta pathetic IMO.

I can't remember any other campaign event ever causing me to react that way.
