Salazar criticizes Record deficit.
Wednesday, September 8, 2004

Denver, CO – Ken Salazar, Colorado Attorney General and U.S. Senate Candidate, has a plan to grow the economy, get Washington’s spending priorities straight, cut the Federal deficit and bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington. Yesterday, the Congressional Budget Office projected that this year’s federal deficit will reach $422 billion, the highest ever.

Just like Washington, Salazar’s opponent doesn’t have any answers either. In July, 2004 the Washington Post questioned Pete Coors' strategy for his proposed tax cuts and his promise to balance the budget. The U.S. Senatorial candidate when asked how he could do both said, "That's probably a fair question, but I just don't have an answer for you." (WP, 7/25/2004)

THE SALAZAR PLAN TO GROW THE ECONOMY AND GET OUR SPENDING PRIORITIES STRAIGHT:

Returning to fiscal responsibility with common sense “pay as you go” provisions. This proposal would require Congress to make the hard choices and pay for all new spending – including tax cuts – as the policies are implemented.

Big corporations need to pay their fair share. Sixty percent of big corporations pay no Federal income tax, but the Republican tax cuts provided billions in corporate tax loopholes. This proposal would stop corporations from conducting business overseas to avoid paying US taxes and require companies to be taxed on their foreign profits just like they are taxed on their domestic profits.
