righties are reaching again...
KERRY COSPONSORED BILL BANNING GUN HE WAVES

Was Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry seen this weekend waving a gun which would have been banned if legislation he co-sponsored became law?

Kerry co-sponsored S. 1431 last year (“The Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2003) which would have banned a "semiautomatic shotgun that has a pistol grip.”

Opponents of the bill successfully argued how nearly all guns have "pistol grips," inluding millions of Browning Auto-5 shotguns produced since 1903.

Photos show Kerry's hand resting on the "pistol grip," as loosely defined in the bill.

now if you look at the picture you will see that it is not a pistol grip...if anyone out there knows shotguns...this would not be considered a pistol grip now would it...?

3. It's not a pistol grip

It is the place on the stock that your trigger hand goes. If it were a pistol grip it would not have that kind of shoulder rest on the stock. You need to have the shot gun resting on your shoulder because of the recoil. Some sawed off shot guns have the shoulder piece removed but they are hard to control that way. But since it scatters the shot it isn't so necessary to be accurate at close range.

on edit, You could not hold a full barreled shot gun with one hand since there is no counter balance in the stock.

4. Let them reach far. To the tipping point even. Then you strike.
Hit them when they are over extended and off-balance.

5. Here we go again
The weekend talking point: Kerry tries to have it both ways on guns (so we don't have to discuss Shrub's failures on Iraq, the war on terra, the economy, the environment, education, ...)
