Obama and McCain interviews on MNF. Show the difference in a real sports fan and a fake one
I think 90% of men would agree with Obama's answer.

Both candidates were asked to name one thing they would change in sports.

“I think it is about time that we had playoffs in college football. I’m fed up with these computer rankings and this and that and the other. Get eight teams — the top eight teams right at the end. You got a playoff. Decide on a National Champion,” Obama said.

College football uses a Bowl Championship Series system, commonly known as BCS, that is based on computer rankings.

McCain said he would “take significant action to prevent the spread and use of performance-enhancing substances. I think it’s a game we’re going to be in for a long time. What I mean by that is there is somebody in a laboratory right now trying to develop some type of substance that can’t be detected and we’ve got to stay ahead of it. It’s not good for the athletes. It’s not good for the sports. It’s very bad for those who don’t do it, and I think it can attack the very integrity of all sports going all the way down to high school.”

1. Wow! That was a smooth answer that any football fan can to relate to

That's going to endear him with many, might even swing a few votes.

McCain's answer - more of the same, scripted and "safe".

4. The College Football Playoff debate is a very, very big one right now
It's not really a debate - the overwhelming majority of fans want one and hate the system we have now for picking a National Champion. When I say overwhelming majority - I mean it. The only people you will find defending the current system are those with a financial interest in keeping it the same.

Again - this is a MAJOR issue to sports fans. Obama just put himself on the side of "Joe Sixpack" in no uncertain terms. It may seem petty, but look at college football stadiums on Saturdays and tell me that these people dont take it seriously.

11. Oh, I wasn't directing that at you - just illustrating that people pay attention to this stuff
People probably put too much into these types of issues, but it is what it is. This was a brilliant play for Obama.

5. OBAMA trying to win Pennsylvania...Penn State fans notoriously hate BCS
Like, for instance, Texas Tech, at #7, beats Texas, at #1, and #3 Penn State STAYS at #3, while Texas Tech moves to #2!

After the Ohio State win, the PSU students had (yet another) riot in the Canyon (the area of Beaver Avenue between the tall apartment buildings); they were chanting FUCK the BCS.

Obama's grandmama didn't raise no fool.

6. Penn State can cry all they want, they wont deserve it over TTU

The Big 10 is down this year.

If Texas Tech beats Okie State and Oklahoma (their next two games) there is no one in the English speaking world who can convince me they aren't the deserving #2 team (at least) in the nation.

Tech really controlled texas in that game. Texas got a kick return and a 90 yard TD on blown coverage. Otherwise, Texas Tech handled UT all over the field.

I don't believe Texas Tech will beat Oklahoma in Norman, but IF they do, they have a far better resume than every other team in the nation, possibly the SEC schools as well. To roll off with back to back wins v. Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma would be a serious accomplishment.

That said, I support the playoff system and getting rid of these conference championship games.

8. That's neither here nor there
My only point is that calling for an end to the BCS is universal for sports fans, but particularly resonant for Pennsylvanians. Yet another example of Obama's savvy. I'll bet the McCain people are saying "Now why didn't we say that!"

9. Hey, as a Penn State Alumni, I wholeheartedly support a playoff
Especially this year.

Went there for my graduate work and the football spirit hooked me.
