2. Yes, I have to agree with you there
I volunteered for Nelson's campaign in South Africa during his first election, (I am an immigrant from South Africa), and even during that election I was not this emotional and this nervous. It was a forgone conclusion that he would win.

I am still cautiously optimistic.

3. To me, this IS a personal / family event.
Despite the vitriol toward freepers and fundies (hell, I've been there myself), I would like to see if Obama really can bring red and blue America together into the United States of America. No one in my family is voting for Obama. The last eight years have been so full of familial discord. I'd like to see if they can turn off Faux News long enough to unite. They're so headstrong, I rather doubt it, but I can't help but hope.

because I was emotional when the Chimp started the war in Iraq but that wasn't a good emotion.
