http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1082848/Does-BBC-really-need-team-175-cover-U-S-presidential-election.htmlAt a time when the BBC is trying to make extensive savings across the corporation and cutting scores of jobs, it has still seen fit to have an astonishing 175 staff covering the U.S. election.
It has sent out an extra 125 on top of the 50 who are based there full time.
Presenters David Dimbleby, Huw Edwards, Jeremy Vine and John Simpson are among those who have been flown across the Atlantic.

By contrast, ITV News is understood to be sending between 15 and 20 staff, and 24-hour Sky News is sending around 40. The scale of the BBC's presence has added to the perception that the bloated broadcaster is out of control.
There are individual teams working for Radio Five Live, News 24, the World Service, BBC America, Radio 4's Today programme and Newsnight. Four staff from BBC Scotland have also been drafted in to give their own perspective.

The cost comes at a time of concern over the amount lavished on 'fat cat' controllers at the corporation. It has been revealed that the BBC spends £14.3million a year on the salaries of 50 managers, half of whom are paid more than Gordon Brown.
This summer, the corporation sent 437 employees to China for the Beijing Olympics - more than the total of British competitors.
A BBC spokesman said of its U.S. election coverage: 'BBC News is sending 125 people including technical staff to report for a wide range of outputs and audiences on this globally important story.
'Almost all staff will be working for more than one area of output and the deployment has been heavily coordinated and scrutinised to ensure efficiency and value for money.'
