What we'd like is for more progressives to move here so we could get rid of these fundie nuts once and for all.

(BTW, I live in that little swatch of pale blue in Northern East Tennessee)

31. Hi
former homegal here. I think K-patch and Knox county has gotten more conservative since I left 30 yrs ago. Of course, I'm not down there often. One of my friends goes to the Unitarian church where the shootings occurred; that and other things taint my perspective.

:hi:

57. The capiral of the confederacy has been taken
as was the state of Jesse Helms.

The birthplace of the KKK is still holding out, but it was close in '06 against Harold Ford. Unfortunately "Call me" lost that one. In time. In time.

But I agree that gash of red looks like a nasty wound.

at the site it says the blue means the county is trending toward being more blue as compared to 2004. More blue votes this time, even if not the majority.

SC was really red in 2004 and shifted drastically (but not enough) to blue this year.

If we see a similar map in 2012 that will mean SC is ours!

The blue represents swings to the Democrats. So yes, Indiana is deep blue, with the biggest Democratic swings.

55. No surprise at all really
The Louisiana coast is still in Louisiana. Hyper conservative, racially tinged, dumb as stump religious. There was no way in hell they would ever vote for a black guy no matter who he was. Maybe in 4 years they'll change their minds.

My little patch of Louisiana appeared as white but it went blue for Obama, and East Baton Rouge went Blue this year as well and went for Obama. For awhile there I thought it would be red so Obama overperformed there and in Shreveport too. The splotch of blue on the upper right are the delta parishes along the river.

This is the first year Louisiana picked the loser. Give Howard Dean and President Obama another try and that might change.
