We are still getting emails from folks who can't admit the election
is over, and their choice didn't win. Here's my most recent response 'reply to all'-------------

This would be a wonderful time to start working together to heal wounds resulting from a contentious election/campaign cycle.

Many times over the years we may have said the Pledge of Allegiance - in school, at ball games, at kid’s concerts or performances. Do you recall the part that says “…one nation, indivisible…”?

The economy is in tatters, jobs have been lost, millions have no health care, kids are going to bed hungry, and relatives are in harm’s way in various parts of the world.

Some say there are no coincidences. Some say everything happens for a reason. Some say there is significance in patterns. Consider this: the story of the flood uses 40 days; Moses and his followers wandered for 40 years; Jesus reportedly went out alone for 40 days; Martin Luther King, Jr said that he had seen the promised land but would not make it there himself, and 40 years after he was assassinated an African American is elected President.

We now have a new President. It is possible that he is not your first choice, but the fact remains - he has the job now. So, this could be a good time for coming together. We have historically been able to do this in the USA. There was the Civil War, where brother fought brother - and we healed. There was Pearl Harbor, and a massive outpouring of patriotism resulted in a rapid build-up and training of hundreds of thousands of soldiers, sailors, and airmen, with the (mostly) women who stayed behind running the stores and factories and their homes - and then we healed. The Great Depression showed us that we could come together to solve the common problems - and again we healed.

We can do this again. Support the new administration. If we choose not to actively support it, then make an honest effort not to hinder it, either by word or deed. If there are policies or procedures that we disagree with, work (with civility) to replace people via the ballot box. We have an opportunity to do this every two years, but we can do this without rancor. Can’t we? Yes we can!
