4. Just FYI, anyone can attend the Inauguration, you just need tickets for the "gated" area. nt

6. I see tickets to Inauguration are by ticket distributed to Senators and Reps
so....I'm guessing I'm out of luck there. But I plan to be on the parade route if nothing else.

14. Contact your Senator or Rep.

You can get your name added to the list. It's first come, first serve so there's no guarantee you'll get a ticket but your name will be on the list. I just finished hounding the offices of Senators Casey and Specter. They were very nice and took down my information. Casey even had a form on his website that made it very easy. My Representative, Chaka Fattah had closed his list already when I called. I might hit up some more Representatives and add my name to those lists too. No one said you couldn't put your name on more than one list. XD

So just give your Senators and Reps a call! :)

I seriously doubt I'll get any. I just asked them to put me down for the maximum number available per person; a number which no one seemed to actually know. lol

17. Just curious... how much are the tickets if you can get them?
Although I'd dearly love to go I seriously doubt we can afford the tickets and trip on our income.

If you get to go I hope you'll post about it here so those of us who can't can live vicariously through you a bit. :)

23. Then why did I have to pay $125 to attend the Midwestern Ball in 1993?
Robbed, I've been!

24. You were robbed!!
did you have to make a donation or actually pay for the tickets? Most of them are free, anyway.

25. My inaugural parade ticket was free, but they made me pay for the ball ticket
I went alone, but I was working as a radiology residency coordinator at the time, and one of the residents was in DC attending a course at AFIP. He tagged along with me, and they waved him in at the ball - he didn't have to pay a cent!

Not fair!

20. My fingers are crossed
Just called to get on my Rep's list. If I had been smart I would've called sooner. But I'm in a Republican district so I'm hoping there's less interest in attending. If this fails then there are the ticket whores. However greatseats.com has them listed from $1129 to $21100. Of course, they don't have any yet, the whores will have to go out and buy them. I might be tempted to pay a couple of hundred dollars but certainly not thousands. I made hotel reservations in June (and it wasn't easy back then).

5. There are several different inaugural balls
Sponsored by different states, groups, etc. at different locations throughout DC. Of course the Illinois ball will be the biggest to-do. The new prez and first lady always make it a point to stop at every ball for a little while.

I went to both the Clinton inaugurals. The first one was the best -- I went to the NY/NJ ball and big dog played the sax with Clarence Clemons (I was hoping the Boss would show but he didn't). But hey, maybe this time huh?

I don't live in DC anymore, but if you go, have fun!

7. I went to Carter's but couldn't see a thing

My daughter was at Grant Park and could only see the Jumbo Screen.

If you go be prepared to enjoy the experience you might not be able to see much.

10. I actually went to Bush I's...
my roommate got tickets and I was young and poor so I said what the hell maybe I'd get some free food and booze out of it... It was crazy crowded and a very boring affair, you couldn't even get to the food or the drinks. I did see Chuck Norris there though...:eyes:

My mom and dad went to Carter's and they said it was pretty much the same, very crowded and over-hyped, I guess you can say you "were there" though. It's history.

22. That hasn't been the same since the Beach Boys stopped performing though..
the old Beach Boys that is, not the faux Beach Boys of today. Remember the year James Watt said the Beach Boys were too controversial, and uninvited them?...

11. Unless you're on Oprah's or Penny Pritzker's level..
don't expect to be rubbing elbows with the muckety-mucks. The parade route is free and open to anybody who passes through security. I'll be there...:hi:

16. yeah. I did some research on this item since it's first time I've ever cared
and I see I better get busy earning mone and then getting donations for Obama's reelection if I ever want to see more than a passing motorcade at one of these events.

But still, I will try my darndest to make it there.

21. I'd be happy just to get my t-shirt
I think Washington on inauguration day will make Times Square on New Years Eve look like Sunday picnic.

I don't wanna be anywhere near that place!
