So it took all of 24 STINKING HOURS for the reverse spin to take..
24 HOURS for the forgeries meme to take hold pretty much everywhere in the media. Meanwhile it takes 3 weeks for the media to address the accuracy of the Swift Vets crap and even then they begrudgingly say "Well there are two sides to the story."

This is positively absurd. I really feel like I'm living in bizarro world.

11. GOP Assertion of "possibility" = truth as truth dies in US Media

War Hero is evil

AWOL is hero

Compassion = tax cuts

less benefits = more "choice"

more pollution = greater cleanup

lack of collaborator's relationship with Osama means Terrorist sponsor against US.

3. The corporate media is the enemy. As much as we want to pretend
otherwise (Chris Matthews is turning our way!!!), they are not now and likely never will be our allies. We shouldn't be discouraged but energized to create effective alternative ways of letting the country know what's really happened.

4. I am now convinced of the media bias in favor of Bush/conservatives
yesterday there were never more than 930 or so Google News items on AWOL, but today, now that CBS is accused of producing forgeries, there are close to 1,500.

6. They OWN the corporate media...
who do you think makes those huge campaign donations to the Rs--some poor schmuck down the street working two jobs, with two mortgages, an SUV and a beater, 2.5 kids, a wife who also works 2 jobs, and no personal days left this year to take off for an emergency?

9. Pass me another biscuit, Alice

It was rather breathtaking to see the entire RW spin machine spring into action so quickly. I knew the beast was large, but didn't realize it's tail was so long.

Just since I've gotten up this morning, I've seen evidence debunking each of the debunking charges. The proportional typeface (found on Selectrics), the ligatures (seen on other National Guard memos the Bush admin released at the time), etc... Yet the only discussion I'm seeing, even on DU, is about whether the memos were false -- ignoring any evidence that the debunking itself is false.

Killian made a CYA file like many other government and military officials commonly do. He probably didn't tell his wife or son about it, because he wasn't proud of the whole situation, no doubt. That's what CYA files are all about.

CBS says they have corroboration of the subject of the memo from Killian's former superior office (who's also a Bush supporter, btw). Maybe they can get this guy out there -- maybe not. But I know that the beast isn't going to want to allow these memos to stand. I just hope CBS and Dan Rather push back.

Oh, that reminds me. I'm late for a very important date. Gotta go.

10. Relax....This story is like a ping-pong ball
Back and Forth, Charges and Counter-Charges.

But the truth of those documents is there for all to see.

No matter how many times you wash it, a stained sheet will always show the stain.

People are common sense smart. He's a Rich Kid and Rich Kid's always get perks. No matter how they spin it, that's what a lot of voters will think and carry into the polls.

This race will be decided, not by any one big Bush Faux Pas, but by a thousand different things each of which is most important to a voter or group of voters.

My view of His AWOLness service record is this: It's just one paper cuts in a death by a thousand paper cuts.
