MNF enters the Presidential election fray with Al Michaels and Madden
It's fourth quarter and the Patriots commit pass interference letting Baltimore get the ball on the Pats 1 yard line. The Colts fumble and Pats get the ball back. So John Madden says something to the effect it looks like a flip-flop football game. And Al Michaels replys "you are in the right state for that". Yuk Yuk Yuk

Now when the Cowboys play in Texas I would expect the comment that a team is being decimated by an aerial bombardment be met by the comment, "you are in the right state for that". It will happen. Right?

2. Baltimore?
Not to distract from your point, but isn't Baltimore's team the Ravens?

3. Michaels has done this stuff before
He went after Gore in 2000 during one of his MNF broadcasts. He is a flaming right-winger who can't seem to keep his political views out of his broadcasting. He has chided Chris Berman on the air for being a Dem. I emailed him over it, and to no avail.

and it seriously p!ssed me off.

I've always hated Madden. He just annoys the hell out of me. Now, I may not be able to stand MNF at all.

5. Catching the highlights on ESPN
Was enough for me. Madden/Michaels = knuckle-draggers.

7. I heard it to!
I was going to post this but I thought that since I wasn't listening too closely I wondered if I had heard it right - thanks for posting this. I have never liked Michaels much now I like him even less - what an ass, can't even leave politics out of football. Yuk, Yuk, Yuk real funny, never mind the fact the Bush is the consummate flip-flopper.

8. My comments to ABC sports
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 08:42 AM by Viking12
"During last evening's telecast of the Patriots-Colts game, broadcaster Al Michaels took the liberty to interject unfounded political opinions into the broadcast. Mr. Michaels has every right to hold politcal beliefs of his choosing. However, his opinions don't belong on a football broadcast. If allowing blatantly partisan political editorializing is accepted policy for ABC, you have just lost a viewer."

11. Mine bounced back too.
I'll remove the link from my previous post. I guess ABC Sports isn't too interested in feedback from their viewers.

9. It's sad
I can barely enjoy football anymore knowing its a bastion for Repuke players, coaches and commentators. And being a Steeler fan, coming from a city with a proud, working-class heritage, it's doubly depressing.
