SEVERAL questions I'm left with after this election!!
1. Why isn't Howard Dean going to continue as DNC chair? Does he want to do other things? Do other people want someone else? Is there a term limit?

2. Do we really need a diary/blog tracking Obama's every moment? (referring to the Politico44 thing) I am and ARDENT supporter of Obama for president with donations, calls, vote. But it seems a lot like "our great and fearless leader" to be doing a minute by minute on the guy. Hopefully people tire of this quickly.

3. What will this page be called other than General Discussion Presidential? Will it move back to General Discussion Politics? And then General Discussion will go more into a catch all mode?

4. Other than Obama, who do you think politically or otherwise gained the most from this election cycle? My vote is for Politico.com or fivethirtyeight.com

1. In answer to question 1, I believe Dean was not interested in serving another term
I have a friend who worked for Dean at DFA before he became DNC chair, and he said Dean has made it clear that he does not want another term as DNC chair. My friend said he wanted to go back to Vermont and hated living in DC, but apparently he wants HHS secretary, so maybe that's not the case.

4. About politico44
I nodded my head in agreement when I read your opinion regarding politico44. However, after going over there and looking at it - it's basically an Obama Twitter-like Tracker. I flipped the arrows back to Thursday and Wednesday and found myself fascinated with how they even linked certain posts to relevant documents and video. So, my new thinking is this: politico44 could be the most comprehensive chronicle of an American presidency in history.

8. thanks for the research. it is a grinding job....
and sometimes thankless. I hope Dean is a major part of Democratic leadership--hopefully in an Obama cabinet.

6. Dean is smart to leave now
He served two terms which coincided with incredibly favorable situational advantage. His reputation is therefore beyond where it should be, and that's frozen in time if he departs now and allows someone else to inherit an unfavorable cycle like 2010, when the party in charge inevitably loses House seats.

10. nope. he served one term as DNC chair.
And Dean wasn't some beneficiary of good luck, he created a viable party infrastructure and philosophy. His reputation is deserved. Furthermore, 2010 is again a bad year for Senate repukes. sorry.

9. OK.
1) the DNC under a dem White House is about following the White House agenda. Dean's not into following political marching orders.

2) Sounds dumb.

3) Damned if I know.

4) dems in general.
