Interesting how many people are actually waiting for the debates.....
Did any of you see the day long pieces on MSNBC from Chris Jansen (Jansing??)who was broadcasting from a diner in Ohio (it was also like the most pivotal of the counties in Ohio---could come down to just this area as far as how Ohio 'goes'). At the very end she said that what really surprised her was the number of people who would talk to her and come up to her at the diner and say that they are very interested in the debates and are really looking forward to watching them before they absolutely make up their mind.

One part of me went 'gulp' because I know that what follows the debates immediately are the whores pounding into the people "what to think" and they (go to the bank on it) will in the first two sentences try to nail the coffin lid shut tight on Kerry. Since people are so swayed by junk like ads, this is going to carry a lot of weight. Another part of me thought that Kerry camp has to get a real grip on these debates---don't let the shifty ones call all the shots on foremat.

Bush wants to 'sit down' not just because of physical stature but because it's "folksy" and they will immediately paint Bush as dripping "folksy" and Kerry "uptight". They want the foreign debate last because he's going to shit the bed on the domestic debate and they want TERRRA TERRA to be the last thing the people hear. Kerry has two missions: don't make any of his domestic agenda sound like 'welfare' (sometimes the healthcare speeches can get that way when he fails to outline how it helps everyone and just starts talking about all the "uninsured children"), and he has to look like a strong defender against terrorists while trying to get the people to spaz down from the fear of God the repbulicans are putting in them.

1. I think the Kerry campaign should NOT GIVE IN on any of the conditions
they are trying to impose. Tough shit. If their little wiener is so damn good, let him go 'mano a mano' so to speak with Kerry. Or is he CHICKEN????
Bush needs to be understood for what he is: East-coast money, Yale-educated, millionaire's son who never did anything, by his own admission. He was and is a media creation.
Let him try to stand up to Kerry. NO questions in advance, NO 'folksy' theatre-in-the-round (although Kerry does pretty well under those settings as well, so that's not a huge issue) but if he's so good, let them show people he's that good.
Never happen.

2. Can Kerry get a townhall meeting on TV?
I think a lot of people have a gut feeling that the media and campaign ads aren't telling 'em the whole story. They want to see a debate so they can see and hear them both unfiltered. People say they're not clear where either one stands on the issues.

A town hall style meeting would give the people everything they claim to be clamoring for. Would bush* consent to a one hour town hall meeting for each candidate aired separately???

3. I think the problem with the 'separate' part is that Bush would
insist on going "last" so they could have the last plant of shit into people's brains. He's already said "no" to the town hall meeting style with the both of them together. I think there should be a town hall debate that is entirely composed of rabid hecklers for both sides---let them throw out their poision accusations, questions, etc. and see which one of these boys can handle it!!!

4. Rabid hecklers?! LOL
Will they agree to meet for a two-hour debate where they receive questions in electronic format from only two sources: DU and FreakRepublic! THAT I'd like to see...
