Cheney, Biden to meet privately at VP residence

Cheney, Biden to meet privately at VP residence

By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer Deb Riechmann, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Vice President Dick Cheney, getting ready to hand off the job as the nation's second-in-command, will sit down with Vice President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday at the Naval Observatory.

Cheney spokeswoman Megan Mitchell said Cheney and his wife, Lynne, have invited Biden and his wife, Jill, to their home at the observatory, the vice presidential residence. The meeting on the vice presidential transition follows the historic meeting President Bush had Monday with President-elect Obama.

Foreign policy and national security issues likely will dominate their discussion.

Biden, who has been chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has a grounding in both foreign and domestic affairs honed over more than three decades in politics. Cheney is known as a chief architect of the war in Iraq and a hard-liner when it comes to U.S. foreign policy.

4. I hope Biden is going to have the place purified before he moves in.
He has to take a sage bundle and burn it, carrying it from room to room.

Then he should set up a perimeter against unwanted influences, by taking natural sea salt, and sprinkling it entirely around the perimeter of the house.

I am only half kidding. That place has to reek of evil.

20. Your post would be funny, if it were anyone else's home we were talking about.
But if I were moving in to Cheney's old home, I would do all of that, plus get an exorcist.

8. I wonder what kind of threats Cheney will use to keep Biden in line?
No way can Cheney just walk away and let the new administration just take over.

25. Biden can not be intimidated...not even by Cheney....
Biden has publicly stated, on many occasions, his disdain for Cheney. He has no fear. Period.

10. Hey, Joe. Go only during the daytime to meet with him. Then,
after sundown, hide in a closet until Dick and Lynne go to bed, and after they are asleep....

open their coffins and drive wooden stakes through their hearts.

Well, maybe not money. But money, guns and lawyers are the usual protection you need to go into the most corrupt morasses and survive.

29. Joe once told Cheney to his face that he would ask for his resignation if he was not an elected
official. This was during the days when the Iraq War was getting out of control. Biden had told Bush that Rummy needed to resign and then he told Cheney off too. I think Cheney knows Biden thinks he is an ahole. Please be careful Joe!

30. Oh yeah - I remember that.
Cheney knows that Biden sees right thru his BS.

I have a feeling that Joe is making Cheney jokes during the transition meetings today.
