My biggest personal concern isn't who gets SOS but who becomes Secretary of the Interior
I'm comfortable with whomever Obama picks as Secretary of State as far as the ones that have been rumored, like Kerry, Hillary, and Richardson, but I'm wondering who the Secretary of the Interior is gonna be.

The environment and wildlife have always been my top personal priority, and there is nobody I'd feel more comfortable to have as SOI than Dennis Kucinich or John Kerry. What better person could oversee our conservation efforts and look out for our environment and wildlife than one of those two people, both of whom have fought tooth and nail for that cause, each in their own way.

If Kerry doesn't get SOS, then I think he would be the perfect choice for SOI, followed by Kucinich, who is probably my alltime favorite Democratic politician up until now at least....that is, if either one of them wanted the job. I'm sure Obama will make a good choice for that position, whoever he chooses, because he's been a good champion of the environment himself.

1. There has been some speculation here
that our former governor Tony Knowles is being considered for this position.

Here is Alaska Native blogger Writing Raven's pitch for Tony http://alaskareal.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-11-11T04%3A28%3A00-08%3A00&max-results=7...

5. Appoint Gov. Tony Knowles to the Secretary of the Interior!!
Okay, this isn't really a deal breaker for me, but really guys, give Alaskans a chance to show the world that we don't only elect corruption and ineptitude. Gov. Knowles was a twice-elected democratic governor in an extremely republican state. He was very popular - still is - and as Secretary of the Interior (for Natives, this translates "overseeing the Bureau of Indian Affairs") he could have a major impact on Native issues. There was some division in his Native support at the end of his career (strong support for most of it), but I believe this was less because he "betrayed" anyone, and more because he was never a single-issue politician. He would make an EXCELLENT choice - trust me on this guys! As much of an embarassment as Palin was for Alaska, Knowles was and is a source of pride, as well as a smart and capable candidate for this position. The released short list for this position is excellent, but Knowles would be GREAT. PLEASE Mr. President, I beg you as an Alaskan wanting to redeem our state, give us this chance!
