All day MSNBC has been saying that Obama said Lieberman should keep his Committee Chairmanship

which he DIDN'T say. Obama said Lieberman should be allowed to stay in the Dem. caucus. Even When Bernie Sanders corrected Alex Witt this morning when she said that, they kept repeating it. Savannah Guthrie just said it a while ago, too. :eyes:

1. This is interesting information. Why does the news report things
that are not true?

2. I have no idea. All I know is someone writes the things that these people read in the teleprompter
and I know one of these people. He's my old best friend's husband and he was supposedly hired to "balance the left-leanings of MSNBC." So maybe they purposely misinform viewers to try to start trouble within the Dem. base? :eyes:

3. Do you think Howard Dean is also misreporting, jen?
Because he said the same thing.

I don't trust MSNBC but I do trust Dean.

4. Didn't Dean just say Obama wants us to move "in the spirit of unification" which
Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 03:59 PM by jenmito
is not very specific? Or did Dean specifically say Obama wanted Lieberman to keep his chairmanship?

5. No one would ever speak about it so explicitly.
The Old Boys' Club wouldn't stand for it.

I haven't heard, though, a ringing endorsement of Joe's chairmanship and that in itself is interesting.

7. Neither did I. And A.B. Stoddard just said, on MSNBC, that Obama wanted Lieberman to remain in the
Dem. caucus. That's all.

12. Exactly...
It just kills me to see RWers (including everyone on Faux) claiming the media is liberal.

9. I must have missed the text message Obama sent out ...
..... that expressed his opinion either way. :) I think the notion, in part, comes from this though:

Hoard Fineman: I think that`s going to go to a vote next week but I bet that Lieberman gets to keep his committee chairmanship because Obama has signaled that he wants him to.

11. Yeah, but Obama never SAID he wanted Lieberman to keep his chairmanship as MSNBC has been
reporting. It seems people are INFERRING he meant it. From your article: "Did Obama really "signal" that he wants Lieberman to stay? The Obama team merely said that they wouldn't referee any committee chairmanship decisions. But they also added that they hold "no grudges" against Lieberman. As I argued here yesterday, this risks giving cover to Senators who want to do nothing about Lieberman."
