I noticed it today on The O'Reilly radio show. People would call up and say, "Yeah I remember one of them Selectrics in our office back in '71 and it couldn't do those things!"

I can't remember what half the equipment in my office looks like, let alone what brand it is and I've been there for 5 years. But suddenly, every conservative has a typewriter fetish and can remember every detail about them from way back when.:D

1. I remember

I remember the IBM Selectric II. It's the typewriter I learned on in 1979. My High School had a typing class, and they had those typewriters for years. They had superscript and proportional font. I can debunk Freepers with lightning speed thanks to that typewriter. Likely it was the same used to produce those reports in the early 70s.

3. My hats off to you then.
I took typing class in '88 and I couldn't tell you the first thing about the typewriter I used, except that if I looked at my fingers while typing, the teacher would give me a good whack!
