Bush: "You know, when I campaigned for office, I said I was for change"
Bush Praises Obama's Campaign

By Dan Eggen
President Bush praised his successor for a "very effective campaign" in a new interview, but showed some skepticism about President-elect Barack Obama's promise of change.

In an interview with a Peruvian television network released Friday, Bush said he hopes Obama "succeeds in his job." Then he was asked about Obama's campaign theme of "el cambio," or change, for the United States.

"You know, when I campaigned for office, I said I was for change," Bush said in the interview with America TV. "Everybody who campaigns is for change. And that's a very effective slogan, and he ran a very effective campaign. And the American people spoke loud and clear."

Bush added that "it will be his turn in two months to assume the great honor of being president."

"I want to help him, and help his team, transition into office," Bush continued. "And I really do wish him all the best. It's going to be very important that he be given a good start, and that's what we're going to do."

The interview was conducted at the White House on Thursday before Bush traveled to Lima, Peru, for a weekend meeting of the 21-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group. Bush is seeking additional support of an agreement issued earlier this month at the Group of 20 financial crisis summit in Washington.

2. Bush said this when asked about the fact that all the Pubs were campaigning on change during the
primaries. He said that everyone always campaigns on change. He added that, eif he were running, even he would be campaigning on change.

Bush to English. "I'd say anything to get elected, even if I were lying through my teeth and knew it." (whatever that means).

11. I think Bush sees himself as a sly ol' fox who's a-zig-in' and a-zag-in'...
...the "kick-ass cowboy," when in reality he's just the cruel little frat boy he's always been. That video of the world leaders refraining from shaking his hand pretty much said it all.

Maybe one day he'll realize how utterly useless he really was. But I won't hold my breath.

13. I don't recall Bush mentioning "change" in his campaign. But we sure got change, didn't we?
A lot of change our country didn't want!

As I recall, he campaigned on "compassionate conservatism" mainly, true conservative ideals (he failed his base in that regard), on restoring honor and dignity to the White House (that depends on your definition of honor & dignity, I guess), emphasizing morality and faith based initiatives appeal to his evangelistic base), and doing something about those dastardly "entitlement" programs like Medicare and Social Security (he failed in the SS efforts, and he did just the OPPOSITE in the Medicare area, signing the largest and most expensive broadening of an entitlement program in our country's history....the Medicare Reform Act that is basically a giveaway to pharmaceutical companies and provides some Rx coverage to seniors).

He was a miserable failure. The world knows it.
